Hi there!

I have a question about v-control panel and the area of the panel that says device configuration. All of these boxes are greyed out. Can anyone tell me why? I'm using vs-w2k-xp-1.09-beta10 drivers which so far seems the best for Red Baron 3d as the amigamerlin series of drivers corrupt the game menus in the flying mode and does not draw the far horizon ( leaving large patches of green).

Thanks

Hi,

I'm wondering about what people feel are the best mods for a v5500 pci. In terms of bios, cooling, settings and any other factors. As far as cooling size of heatsinks is a factor. I don't want to go too large.

What do you think?

Thanks [?]:D

Hi,

Whether I was using voodoo2 or voodoo 5 inevitably when running my favorite game I would experience complete screen freeze necessitating system reboot. At first, I thought cooling was the issue so installed those nice tennmax coolers on my v2 but now with a new V5500 pci the problems still happens usually once or twice an hour. Last night it accompanied an advisory under xp about loop error and changing drivers and whatnot. Now that begs the question, What does one do about these loop errors and how do I stabilize the system so they occur less frequently. This has been happening both on my pentium 3 rig and my relatively new pentium 4 rig.

As my favorite game RB3D requires being aloft for several hours in tournament competitions. These freezeups both result in pointloss and annoyance so any suggestions would be helpful.

Salute!

Just upgraded my v2's to a V5500 Pci and encountered the following problem which I think may be setting related. The above drivers for XP are quite nice but the terrain panels for Red Baron 3d at the horizon were not being drawn correctly remaining a flat green and being drawn as one flew closer.

Someone else suggested a driver problem so I tried the 3dhq drivers and the problem disappeared, however I was not satisfied with picture quality and the lack of tools in the menu and decided to uninstall 3dhq's tools and keep the driver and replace 3dhq tools with the amergaimlin tools. When I did that the green undrawn panels returned which led me to think that the driver itself was not the problem but something in the settings. Any suggestions? I tried both "the best settings" and default with the same result.

Salute 3dfxer's

While playing Red Baron 3d, I see faint horizontal lines waving back and forth on the screen. While these are not a big problem, I still feel image quality could be a bit better. Is there something, I might be missing to fine tune the image a bit so the waves disapear. I don't seem to have the problem with other games and image quality is very nice. Any suggestions?

Hello there!

Wondering if anyone has good tips for environment settings for voodoo 2 to increase image sharpness and performance.

Also regarding voodoo 2 ini files and APK3dfx tuning engine. Where is the ini file and where should it be?

Thanks to those who respond.

Hi there!

Just to let you know , tried installing the Fast Voodoo for XP drivers and ended up with several problems. Both 12 mb V2's showed as connected but no SLI was detected or any memory. When I tried to run Red Baron 3d "Full Canvas Jacket" I received a message that the drivers were older and that i should find newer drivers  from 3dfx.

I then tried several reinstallations but to no avail. I then went to Voodoofiles.com and found a V2 driver for XP that is working perfectly but there was no joy from fast Voodoo.

Thanks

Hi there,

Various files are included in the driver set with registry tweaks named antialiasing/ glide / direct 3d. What do these do? Should i expect an antialiasing tab somewhere in the control panel or what exactly does it do? Secondly various screen refresh files marked .REG can't be entered into the registry. What do i do with these?

Games / Red Baron 3D~ Best All-Round WWI Flight Sim
02 September 2003, 05:32:53
Hello,

Just a note, RB3D is simply the best. The online community is great with plenty of mods and graphic additions. In particular, last month the release of "FULL CANVAS JACKET" marked perhaps RB3d's final evolution. This add-on is not for free but there is plenty of other things out there making this game one not to be missed for fl;ight sim enthusiasts. I've heard that as this time over 900 copies of FCJ have been ordered so we expect an influx of new pilots in the future.

Nothing is more exciting then entering the online arena for the first time but be prepared to be the whipping post for awhile as the pilots there are old hands. You can also join online squadrons that fly their unique paint schemes .

generally, hacking is not an issue , although there are always a couple of griefers that most MMP games are victim to.

The campaign game allows you to fly with historical aces and squadrons and even lead the squadron if you wish. Other notable patches are "The Hell's Angels  Superpatch" and "revenge of the Jastas"

Boxed copies can still be found on ebay or I'm sure if you visit the Wings of Valor forum, you might even find someone who will send you a free copy. We'd love new pilots just tell the LW_Hearse sent ya!

Voodoo2 Discussions / APK 3dfx settings program
02 September 2003, 04:32:46
Hi again,

Anyone using this program or have used it in the past? Supposedly, you can change certain settings easily with this program. However, I've noticed that although the program was running, I dont think it changed anything as when i entered the registry everything remained unchanged. Am I missing something? Seems a good little utility.

Hi there!

I've been using 2 V2's sli with Geforce ti4200 so I can play Red Baron 3d and Il-2 Sturmovic.

My system is a PIII 800 mhz with 256mb ram. I'm looking for the best drivers and noticed the fast voodoo 2.3 driver. Is this primarily for athlon cpus or will it work on a P III system? Also , what is the anti-aliasing feature I see in the menu? V2's didnt have anti-aliasing did they? Will it help with the jaggies??

By the way, If you havent played RB3D, You really should. The community has made many mods for the game and it is almost up to par graphically with newer games yet is much more involving then many new games which lack substance.

Thanks~~
