Hello everyone,
today's menu includes four Voodoo 2 cards to repair.

They were sent to me by a 3dfx enthusiast to try to create two working SLI configurations.

All those pins, SMD capacitors/resistors, the RAMDAC to check, plus the 3dfx chips, broken tracks, etc., etc...:o

In the meantime, let's see if we can save one of them. ;)

I am sorry for my English ;) :D

Today I will talk about one of the four musketeers:

ATHOS - Creative 8MB

A Creative Voodoo 2 8 MB card in very poor condition.
Missing SMD capacitors; bent and/or destroyed TMU and FBI pins; short circuits on the 5v and 3v lines; broken tracks, etc.

After aligning/re-soldering all the bent and/or short-circuited pins, the card started working again, but with only one TMU.
The other TMU had destroyed pins and was disconnected from the chip.
But before completely desoldering it, I wanted to try a repair that I had already performed several times with good results.

A reconstruction of the missing pins:

Once the restoration/reconstruction work was complete, the video card was working perfectly again.

Finally, I upgraded the RAM from 8 MB to 12 MB:

Considering the starting point, I must say that the result is excellent:

The first repair/upgrade was a complete success.  :)
