i have a project that i would LOVE to do....
double the ram on my 6k!
the vsa 100 core can address 64 megs per chip - so i would love to do that to mine (de solder the ram , resolder new chips and give it a new bios that can use all of the ram)
anyone here have the knowledge / skill to do it?
IF this will be possible, only Hank can do it ! But you need expensive memory chips, which are very rare, and also very expensive and special machines to be able to put the chips on the board.

What are you smoking? You can solder those rams chips off with one of those small solder things and put the new chips on with the same thing. There's no involvement of expensive, special machinery!
And as for the memory:
I've got Toshiba memory on my V5 5500 and when I looked it up on their site I found out that those chips are now available in 16MB format (instead of 8MB).
Buy those, solder them on and get a working BIOS for it. It's as simple as that. At least, if you've got toshiba memory :P

Phalanax, You do realize that a) Any ram chip with the same pin readout will work in the place of you toshiba ram, b) the new ram will need to have the same pin readouts.
In reaction to point b;
The ram chips on the toshiba site have the same serial numbers, etc. as the ones on the V5 5500. That tells me that the pin readout is the same because if it wasn't, toshiba would have used different numbers.
Simpel logic actually.
Look at the car business;

that says to that they are Hyundai , with a rating of 5.5ns = 183mhz.
can anyone find any more info on them? and any possible replacements?

This is a rev 2 board (2700), so you can find on it 128mb of 5.4ns or 5.0ns SDRAM ;)
