Title: Need For Speed Hot Pursuit 2
Post by: mcmagostini on 21 April 2004, 19:56:10
Hi guys!

I'd like to know how do you play this game with good FPS cause i'm
not getting to it. Even setting the details to the minimum and using
640x480 i still get little FPS drops in game sometimes.

Using :
WinXP Pro
Voodoo5 5500 PCI
Amigamerlin 3.0 XP + DX9.0b
Tbred 1700+@3200+
512RAM 333@433 2-2-2-6
Audigy + kX drivers.

One thing i noticed on every DX game here is that when i set in the
drivers configuration to 3d filter High Quality i got horizontal
stripes along the whole screen no matter the game. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,
Matheus Agostini

800x600x32,medium detail    minfps=25 maxfps=55 avfps=30
800x600x16 minimum detail   minfps=30 maxfps=90 avfps=45

Thx for the reply LGC.

I suspected that.
The matter of fact is that i love kX drivers.
They produce a way better sound than creative
ones and the controls are all gathered in one
app only that takes much less memory that the
bunch of apps creative drivers use.
But.... I may give it a shot just in case. In
my OGL or glide games i didnt have a single
problem so far. I run Q3 at Normal quality with
140+FPS.

I've installed Win98SE with the x3dfx 1.08.04 drivers
and for my surprise i got a whole differente scenario.
Within WinXP i run the game at minimum graphics and still
have frame drops to 15 FPS in this config.
Within Win98SE i can run the game with its default graphics
setting:
32bit
800x600
..car detail -------X--
.....effects -------X--
world detail ------X---

SMOOTHLY as silk. Besides that, in Win98 i dont get the nasty
cursor bug i see in WinXP that i can see a rectangle blinking
behing the cursor itself. It happens with other DX games as well.
Is there any major problem with de DX port under WinXP?

thx m8s

I tried NFSU on my old system just for fun, and it ran slow as a dog even at lowest resolution with all settings on minimum... I suspect HP2 is probably using a similar engine.
