Title: About the amigamerlin drivers
Post by: NitroX infinity on 31 July 2004, 18:59:15
Just a question.
https://www.3dfxzone.it/dir/3dfx/bestsettings/amigamerlin_3.0_xp/
Those settings you can make in the HUB, aren't they settings in the register?
If so, why not have them set by the installation program?
That is possible isn't it? (Import a .reg file)

Yes, of course.

Because default settings (those made by installation tool) have better compatibility feature than best settings located here https://www.3dfxzone.it/dir/3dfx/bestsettings/amigamerlin_3.0_xp/

So, the typical choice is aiming to maximum compatibility for all users.

Then would it be possible to create an alternate set which does have those settings? Or perhaps even just a .reg file?

Yes, it's.

I don't like reg file, instead, because is not a good idea changing on the fly registry content: this operation is in fact hard (too many objects in the reg file) and sometime not useful because system would reboot to correctly loading environment variables.
