Well, If you know where the cause of the problem lies, that's perfect - I can wait until it's done. I don't have a choice, do I ? :D
Thanks in advance !

I removed the old driver, installed the new one and once again -  the "mapmem returned an error..." message appeared. I'm testing with the system in my signature. The only thing different is that the CPU is underclocked to 1.53 MHz - 1800+, but this doesn't matter, I guess.
I tried starting some 3dfx demos, NFS, Quake 3 and nothing. I can't get it working.

I was getting the same error with the old version (15.1.2005, I think) and the only sollution I've found was: disable the Radeon from device manager, insert an old S3 Virge DX board, start a glide application, restart, remove the S3 (from the computer), re-enable the Radeon and everything is fine until the next time.
Sometimes it magicaly fixed itself when the PC was restared, but I have no luck with the new driver and since I don't have the S3 anymore, I can't try to trick the PC, unfortunately. [:(]

Will there be a fix for this error anytime soon ?

On the main menu go to Options->Video and select OpenGL, then - "minigl" (or something like that) instead of "default" in the combo box.

First of, his processor is either a Celleron or a Pentium. There is no Celeron Pentium processor. And there is no PII running at 2GHz, so I assume his processor is a Celeron based on P4 core.

His problem might be in the game. Did he try any other Glide game to make sure 1024x768 resolution is not working ? F/A-18 might be designed to run on a single VooDoo2, so it won't allow him to switch to 1024x768. SLI should be detected, as if it wasn't his picture would be interlaced (only odd or even scanlines would be displayed).

The AGP 2x connector (the one that the VooDoo has) should have one notch and the AGP 4x - two notches, so they are OK.

QuoteCan you check that your card is seated firmly in its slot ?
Or maybe it's making bad contact. Make sure both the AGP slot and the video are clean.

I hope it's not, but that GF4MX might have been accidentaly damaged. A static electricity discharge kills PC equipement instantly. If someone has touched it when he was charged, even if he didn't feel it, might have caused damage to the video. Try it again on your friend's PC, to see if it's working properly.

OK, it's my mistake that I didn't see who's selling it. Still, I don't think it's right to advertise and help selling products which noone has asked for or shown any interest in. But, I see that the moderators are not against it, so I give up.

Will you stop it ?! This is a forum for hardware discussions, it's not a market. If someone wants to buy any of your stuff he'll find it on e-bay.

Have you tried to use another AGP video, a TNT2/GF1/2 or Radeon 7xxx/8xxx for example ? I'm beginning to think that there is something with that GF4MX440.

That's odd. There might be a problem with the AGP 4x support on your motherboard. Can you try another AGP 4x video ? The other problem might be the power supply unit.

The integrated cards are not meant for playing games. I don't know if your model even supports pixel shaders. To play FIFA you should buy a separate video card with PS2.0 or 3.0 to see all the effects at playable framerates.

Well, we can't help much if you don't describe the system. I suppose that you are trying to put an AGP 4x or 8x video in a AGP 2x mobo. Again - I suppose. What's the mobo, the PSU... ?

You can never go wrong when buying more RAM - the games will always run better. On the PC from my signature F.E.A.R. swaps often, so you definetely should buy 2GB, if you want comfortable gameplay.

ps47, are you sure ? Quake 2 couldn't start on my system showing up the same error: "cannot span 2MB boundary" and I fixed it that way.

There is also alternative solution. Set an enviroment variable -SSTV2_TMU_MEMSIZE=2, or do the same in the registry. Create a new string value in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\3Dfx Interactive\Voodoo2\Glide with the same name and value. This way you should be able to use your current drivers.
