Well i tried the game with the Win2k version of the intel extreme 1.2 patch on Windows 2000. I am using the current SFFT Alpha driver (its slighlty post 13). The game loads in fullscreen mode if I disable tiled tripple buffer support. There are a number of dialogs that aren't displayed but which I can enter key through 4 I think, and the menu is somewhat corrupt as I can't see the character selection icons. The game does however run and I can run about and beat people up. I tried it in Windowed mode and it also started up but with the corruption in the character menu. So it just about works under Win2k with the patch. I havn't tested XP although there is an XP patch.
All testing was on a Voodoo5500 AGP on a 1.2Ghz celeron. Unfortunately it won't load in fullscreen mode when Hypersnap is loaded so no picture.

I had to turn off dithering on it to get it to work, but it is quite playable. I picked up a copy of the game as they had just put it on sale. I posted a zip file with utils for setting 3 and 4 tile mode on the SFFT Alpha testing thread. I would expect it to work with the Alpha 13 driver. The patch is linked ot Intel so I don't know about running on non-Intel chips. Someone will have to test it.

about that patch:it simply forces the game to use SW T&L instead of HW T&L,so it should work on ANY card.and you dont need hypersnap for pictures,just hit printsreen;).I used hypersnap only to convert the screens to *.jpg format.5meg large *.bmp file is nothing you can post here:D

and one more screenshot: the way you make me wheel:D

I simply noted that the documentation said it was a patch for a couple of Intel chip sets. I tested it on a different Intel chipset under W2K, and I have since tested it on an AMD system under XP. It worked on both but only in windowed mode under XP. I quite liked the square wheels myself. Like you I found that it sometimes doesn't load in fllscreen mode on W2K.

this is my MatrixConfig.ini :
[RENDERING]

BRIGHTNESS=100
CONTRAST=100
FULLSCREEN=1
DISPLAYSHADOWS=0
MAX_LOD=-1
DITHER=0
ALLOW_GAMMA=1

LODBIAS=0
FARCLIPBIAS=30
PARTICLEDENSITY=0
PARTICLEMINIMUM=3
FRAMERATE_BEHAVIOR=0
SAFEMODE=0
[CONTROLS]
MOUSE_SENSITIVITY=50

is there a way (or an ini config) to get more speed (FPS) in game?

i've tried with my v4 4500 in winXP + SSFT alpha14 and it doesn't start when i set FULLSCREEN=0 (nothing happen)....
althought in full screen, after u load a level, the game closes itseft.... so i can't play it.

PS: in win9x with EVO's is all right[B)]

Run Set3Tile.exe and then restart your machine and try it. You may be running out of texture memory.

ok, i´ll try :)

so, this files free texture memory?
* Amigamerlin 3.1\Set DX Mode\Set3Tile.exe
* Amigamerlin 3.1\Set DX Mode\Set4Tile.exe

PS: what´s the difference on both files?
Title: Enter the Matrix (voodoo5) !!!
Post by: SuperFurryFurryThing on 12 October 2004, 22:23:07
Set4Tile is the default it reserves memory for a 3 buffer flip chain. Set3Tile only reserves enough for 2 buffers in the flip chain. It uses the memory as texture memory.

..does the game work when you use the FOCUS ability (xp/2000)? menu corruption is not a problem,but as long as you cant use FOCUS,playing the game is pointless..

If you are trying to load it fullscreen under Win2k. it often fails to load, if you perservere it works eventually you need to have run Set3Tile and rebooted first. Set3Tile should be in the Driver2k subdirectory of the driver directory. You can edit the config file for the game to set fullscreen off and run in a window that should work every time.

The file is called set3tile.exe  what driver are you using. You need to edit the config file for the game to get it to try and start in windowed mode under XP.

Which driver did you install, I presume that have downloaded and installed one from the web, and are not using the default Microsoft one that ships with XP. If you haven't downloaded one then try doenloading and installing the Amigerlin 3.1 set from this site.

edit matrixconfig.ini (or something like that),find WINDOW (or something like that),and set it to 1,make the file read only and start the game.your desktop must be in 32-bit colour as well.

if you really want to play that game get someone skilled and let him do a dual boot win98se/xp for you.install the game under win98se,use the evolution driver for win9x and you can play without problems.(SSFT driver works if you do things right,but in window only and movies dont work)

Once that you have run set3tile.exe and then rebooted, which you only need to do once you need to edit the config file for enter the matrix  which should be in the c:\Program Files\Infogrames\Enter the Matrix\ directory there should be a file called Matrixconfig.txt
There should be an entry called FULLSCREEN=1 chnage this to FULLSCREEN=0 and it should run in windowed mode.
