Trading Zone / Rev A3 Voodoo Volts for sale
21 July 2008, 15:57:00
I got 2 voodoo volts from A3 cards. work also for Rev A (3700, 3900)
both in perfect condition - not even a tiny scratch. Make me an offer Voodoo5 (at) live.de
I also got a SLI AAlchemy card for sale (16xVSA-100)

There are AGP Riser cards. They can be easily undertaken this mod I think. So V5 will work in AGP4x Mobo with it. I will try this. Were can i see the exact steps ?
Thanks

@m14 radu:
Some and 5,4ns 5,5ns memory is labeld down to 6ns due to poor quality. Also the quality of vsa-100 seem to differ. On Rev A 6Ks there is a good revision making it possible to overclock them at least to 190MHz and above. Sometimes gpu might be the limiting factor but that could be changed through special cooling. There are actually geforce cards that use 4ns sdram. That + a good 5500 and you might get up to 200.

Concerning V5 SLI though wiked3d drivers
It's a great idea. Theoretically it would work. What would have to be done ? how would the cards be connected.
Are there pictures of those systems running dual V3 ?

some news:
AAlchemy is indeed very similar to the Voodoo5. 2 chips the V5 don't use need to be started by the driver but according to hank it's not mandatory to have the code, it could be done in another way.
So the card really belongs to the Voodoo4/5 family which means a single AAlchemy could do 16x FSAA, a SLI Board even 32x, adjustable like 4x fsaa on voodoo5 5500 trough 3dfx tools.
would be interesting to hear SFFT's opinion on this.

Since some wholesellers on ebay sold AAlchemys more and more 3dfx guys get one. Unfortunately there is only the original Q3D Driver which doesn't bring features as the Amigamerlin does for the 6000.
The AAlchemy is the fastest 3dfx card - at least in theory and with a good driver it could show its advantage. FSAA with no impact on performance, 64MB per chip etc.. maybe even 16x FSAA
Is it possible to include AAlchemy support in the Amigamerlin or any other driver?
Thanks

nice work ! couldn't you actually make a real big 3dfx logo as bootscreen ? And somwhere small in the corner the bios version etc. ?

Look I got a lot of 5ns ram available....

Voodoo4/5 Setup and tweaking / PIII & V6k
21 February 2005, 20:53:33
Why do you want to run a 6k with via chipset ? I had several of those via boards (even VP6)and all were much slower than older Intel 440BX boards like P2B-F. about two years ago a friend of mine changed from via to bx which resulted in almost 1000 3D-Mark2000 points more than he had before (Voodoo5 5500).
I also recommend the Intel 840i Chipset when you want to use PIII. The Intel OR840 is the fastest PIII platform and it perfectly accepts the Voodoo5 6000. (haven't tested other 840 boards yet)

Some time ago I saw a modded Voodoo5 5500 on ebay. Something was changed so that the card had a higher voltage. That makes the card more overclockable on the one hand and on the other the average fps are getting better even with no overclocking.
That was also confirmed by other people who did the mod to their NV cards. How can this mod be done ? Which transistor(?) has to changed or what has to be done ?

There might be no number. The important things 3dfx printed on the card is Rev A1, that sais it's still a prototype, Rev B would be the final card. As far as I know about 3 of the yellow boards are existing and that are just prototypes / early models of the V4 4500.
If it's clockes at 143MHz it sais nothing, most of the early engineering samples using vsa-100 chips are clocked at that speed.
A number (like 3700)is not the revision, that's printed by the factory and is no 3dfx marking. It says something about the production date.

Nonsense- The card on the picture is no final revision and yes - he sells a 6000 for the third time now. Ever looked in his feedback ?
He probably doesn't even have one card. And even if he had one - why should it be from Clay ? I wouldn't bid even 100$ on the card (or one of the next ones) because you can be pretty sure that you'll never get it.

Quotethe price : 5 380 or 5 480 Yen (46,45 or 47,31 euros)

Why 45 Euros and now 85 ? I would take two to three of them adapters. But I would prefer the cheaper price.

Voodoo4/5 Discussions / Voodoo 6000 run on pci!!!!
30 December 2003, 14:47:47
What a waste of good hardware. A 6000 is simply too slow for that system. And why AGP to PCI ? Just take a Quantum3D AAlchemy which is already pci. Try an 8264. 16x VSA-100 1GB Memory.

Voodoo4/5 Discussions / voodoo 6k power connector
15 December 2003, 13:04:38
All 6000 cards were orginally to be powered with the VoodooVolts.  Nevertheless all cards from Rev2 2000 - Final can be powered by an internal hookup in the case you don't have the psu. Caution: It has to be soldered and a 400W system psu is recommended then.
@3dfxFanatic: Do you have a 6000 or do you want to buy one ?
