Half-Life 2, the latest Sierra Entertainment masterpeace, runs fine on 3dfx Voodoo5 cards with Amigamerlin 3.1 R1 driver kit. Omega_supreme sent Amigamerlin some game pictures. Just one - frame real resolution is 1920x1200 - follows:

Bye bye
It runs at Dx Level 9/8/7/6?
coz differnt Dx Level will make the on-screen detail different
HL2 uses its own dx6 path ;)
Hi,
I see from the screenshot you got the 3dfx Voodoo5 card working on HL2, using Amigamerlin 3.1 R1 driver kit. Did you use the MesaFX patch, if so can you tell me how to install it? If you didnt can you help me anyway!
Thanks
Anthony
Well, HL2 runs under Dx and can't run unluckily with MesaFx since this game doesn't support OpenGl (unluckily again).
if HL2 uses OpenGL, maybe V2 can run it (just like Doom3)
..many games have an unsupported opengl renderer that can be activated by ini editing or console commands, but I dont think this is the case.it looks like the source engine doesnt have an ogl renderer,I have asked if CS Source has something like that on the official forum, the reply was no,and it has started a nice flamewar :D
Quotemany games have an unsupported opengl renderer
Indeed but sometimes this renderer is not "fantastic".
..yes,but "not fantastic" graphics is usually better than "none at all" ;)
Right ! ;)
Ok thanks for the help!! So HL2 doesnt support MesaFX.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to tweak HL2.
Here are my specs.
AMD Athlon 1.4 Mhz
758 RAM
Voodoo 5
Windows XP
Thanks
Try running Set3tile.exe and then rebooting if it still runs it might go a bit faster, if it stops working run set4tile.exe and reboot again it should be back to being ok. Lower resolutions will probably also be faster.

:D
So it was an opengl renderer but Valve would have removed it "to do MS a favor".
