Yes it can.
This is mine:

But the card gets pretty hot, so it would be wiser, and your voodoo will live longer, if you have a good cooled case ;)

erm, well, a voodoo cannot do without cooling, but as Phalanx show it can be passively cooled. make sure to have an airflow in your case if you passive cool it.

Hmm, I have no airflow in my case :P I just leave the sidepanel off.

lol Phlanax. Do you have a microATX case? I have to leave all the side panels off and the power supply on top of my microATX case, or else the CPU overheats and shuts down. Like you, there is no airflow except for the dual CPU fans, but with everything sealed, the warm air just stays in the case, behind the PS where the CPU is located.

No, I have a bigtower. A Chieftec Dragon DA-01BD to be precise.

tsss, you guys... :D

i placed some casefans, run them at 5 and 7 volt, so they actually make less sound then my PSU, and my cpu stays cooler with sidepanels on then when there off....

but you are right ofcourse, when you dont have any airflow, you'd better take of the side panels...

I can't install fans in the rear, becuase of the stupid design, so air flow is impossible, unless I do something out the top, which I've been thinking about. But for now, I live with my cheap case with the sides missing.

erm, well, i hadnt any premanufactured places for my fans as well, but i did have a Dremel (what a handy tool... :P ) so now i do h ave fans in my case... :)

I don't think you understand. I wish I had my dad's digital camera so I could show you, but he's away on business.  The back is designed so that there is no room to mount an 80mm fan, only some really tiny ones if I wanted to take the time. The front already has a fan, with no room for a second. On the motherboard side, it is not thick enough for a fan, unless the fan was mounted on the outside. On the other side (the side you normally work in), the fan would be blocked by the V5, hard drives and floppy drive, and the power supply. The only option is to go through the top, which I have't had the ambition to try. Basically, all the heat from the CPU gets trapped by the motherboard, the back/top of the case V5, CD-ROM, and power supply, and the top of the case is the only place where this heat could be taken out from.

hmmmz, i think i see the problem... :D

i used a not so technical method of installing a fan, take the door you removed to make that picture (the side panel) then grab yourself a hammer, chisel and drill.  you take the fan you want installed, and trace a circle on the metal door with pencil (using the inside diameter of fan as a stencil). then you grab the smallest drill bit to fit standard case fan screws. the rest should be simple trial and error, the chisel is not hard to use, and you just drill out where the screws must go. then "presto!" instant airflow, install your DIY modified case door, (you can make the screw ups look a tad better by installing rubber molding or small weather stripping on the rough metal edges, that should more than cover the heat output of the chipsets. you could go all out and even install 2 fans (intake is suggested but in or out should probably do the trick)

hmmmz, well that is just what i did with the side panel of my Aopen hq08 aqua Big tower. but amp_man and Phalanx dont have huge towers, but small cases (amp_man has microatx) so i can imagine there isnt a lot of room to get air flowing.
what i do know: one of my 120mm papst side panel fans is attached on the outside of the panel. it has to be installed that way, or else i t would fit past the molex connecter of my voodoo5... i also had to relocate my HDD to above the PSU, or else it would have gotten in the way of the second fan... :) guess i should have bought a bit slimmer fans.,...

qrazi, as I stated before: I have a BIG tower!!
I don't have a small case.

First off, I must say, I did nt read this thread...I can only point out that your v5 is not screwed in, plus you've got those two uber heatsinks on it. Where's the support?!

lecram, if you look at the other picture, the V5 is out. Obviously, he just put it back in, and didnt bother screwing it back in or anything (although I'm not quite sure why) ;)

The image was taken before I put the screw and the powercable back in.
The support for the heatsinks can be seen on the first image. Two pushpins are used per heatsink to hold them in their place, ever seen those four holes on a V5 around the VSA-100 chips?

And if anyone is wondering; these are Zalman NB32-J northbridge heatsinks. They fit perfectly on the V5.

Ok, amp_man, I understand what you're saying...

Phalanx, what I mean by support is, what's holding the card up? Besides the one screw. Because I can only imagine that those two heatsinks are pretty heavy.
I hope you understand what I mean...if he doesn't, could someone reiterate what I mean, that's if you, being that "someone", know what I mean ;)

I know what you mean :)
The fact of the matter is that these heatsinks aren't that heavy (36g according to Zalman)
And don't forget, the AGP slot is also holding up the card :)
