Ever want to run a newer game or program on a windows 98 system.

well you can, I found the program called kernelex
http://kernelex.sourceforge.net/

Almost every app I tried works with it and a good bit of games do too!
Its kind of like windows capability mode but in reverse.
It works even better with all the windows 98 updates and the unofficial windows 98 SP3
If you ever get a missing file or .dll file error just installed the system file.

I have only found a few apps and games that do not work with it .
I hope this might help a person or two.

once I get my 3dfx system backup and going I'll post some screens of it in action.

edit:
You can find updates for win98 here.
http://www.mdgx.com/upd98me.php
Be certain to do a backup be for installing any updates.

No offense but a lot of people are making jokes about this subject.
Even nvidia came with the 1 April joke last year, so that everybody is skeptic.
If the 3dfx will be resurrected than will be awesome.
But you told us that the cards will be launches starting with March 1st 2013. What's happen ?
Can you provide more details/evidence about the project ?

Yes March was our launch date I jumped and we thought we were going to use other companies IP Cores. that has not gone the way we wanted it so we are now developing our own our memory modules and solid state drives and the Voodoo gaming systems are ready except for graphic cards. We were trying not to launch other products until we launched at least one card. So the 32nm vsa2000 1000mhz 3dfx chip will be manufactured at Global Foundries New York. the PCB board will be manufactured by Tritech Manfacturing Fort Wayne Indiana all assymbly done at our sister company this has never been released until now ADDCO Circuits Rochester Hills Mi the work on 3dfx's 300 thousand sqft Detroit campus has begun GhostDog also now hows tie to ge the 3dfx sites up and the 370 fps Linux based Driven Operating system is running with no bugs so we are getting closer.

what instrument patch are you using with your AWE64?
IMO the 32 sucks and the 64 is on par with the pro, but this is midi playback, witch 90% of the sound quality is the instrument patch and the other 10% being the DAC.
if you could link or send me the patch the 64 uses I love to try it on my gus

Back on topic, why not a agp card? is it for the dvi port or could you not find a dual socket mobo with a agp slot  ?

No, unfortunately I send the card back to the "specialist" and he manage to destroy it.... and in addition to make everything worse he throw the card away - without to ask !!!
I was very upset about the result.[}:)][}:)][}:)]

wow, what a d[xx(][xx(][xx(]
did he repay you for killing your card ?

hi there, how much is the power consumption of a 3DFX Voodoo3 3000 ?

I only have a 145w Power Supply.
can I get your full system spec and the make and model of your psu ?
I don't know what much a voodoo3000 pulls, but it can't be much.
I have a delta 120w psu powering a voodoo3 3000 system with a 1ghz pIII and it's fine.

Yes we are talking about Gravis Ultrasound cards
. The nice thing about the pro is that you can changed a instrument patch for midi play back.
I use the EAW patch system myself.
http://www.doomworld.com/idgames/?id=13928
it's really the only good patch I can find :(

EDIT
my old system it not together right now, as I'm making a case for it.
but I can get it up and going as a bench setup to record some midi play back.

EDIT2
here's a sample.
it's not the best recording and I had to disable the monitor on the card. With the monitor enabled it degraded the recording like crazy.
but it will give you an idea of what it sounds like.

in case your not sure on what meant I by "monitor". it's just a sound setting in the GUS sound mixer.

very nice... I had an awe32 and the digital sound from that was so bad... but the awe64 was a nice card.   I still have an old GusMax in the original box with all accessories.... I would love to fire that up again.
the gus pro is a killer card, I happen to have one my self.
I never used the max, but my pro tops the awe64 but it's more of a preference and not hands down

Nope.
It's a custom I/O analogue video connector.
thanks
it certainly looks like dvi tho

EDIT
wow they look so alike

EDIT
I"m doing some looking, looks like it's called a PnD connector or something

Ever since I replaced my 3dfx powered backup system, I been dieing for a good 3dfx system.
TBH when I had it up and going in its prime, it was more of my mane system. even tho I had a nice and new gaming system I can't stay away from 3dfx or 3dfx/glide games, and before you say anything:
emulators/wrappers suck big time.
it's the real deal or nothing, the wrappers are a pain in the butt. not only that but they look like crap.
Anyway I had some money and thought I bring back the system, but in a cool way.

Don't worry, I had most of the parts alreadyso here's the scoop

specs

stuff I had
mobo: abit sa7
cpu 2.66ghz northwood P4
gpu: VOODOO5500
ram: 1gb ddr 400mhz kingston
dvd drive
HDD: 40gb WD (not the biggest but it will work)
sound card: sound blaster audigy 2 gold edition
game pad: 3dfx hammer head with rumble (still have the box ext)
cpu sink: Thermaltake TR2 M12

stuff I needed
case:SilverStone LC04 with 300w psu 55$
pci robin riser 4.50$ (for the sound card)
2 heatsinks for the voodoo 12$ (just some chipsets sinks)

I'm still waiting on the pci riser and heatsinks.
I will be installing winxp and win98 10th anniversary edition on the system.
ut99 will be played online in all my free time :

and here are the pic's

http://img23.imageshack.us/img23/3047/img3023ch.jpg

BTW I'm going to use a game pad as a mouse.
I have a rca to vga converter, maybe it works both ways. I hope, then I could use it on the go with just about any TV

edit
I may do some mods to the case.
I'm thinking of getting some unreal fan grills and adding two more fans spots to the case.
one on the side next to the psu and one on the top.

We all know about the agp v1 v2 compatibility problems. weather it be the 3.3v or just not fitting
I was wondering since some have cut a notch out of the voodoo5500 before
why not use something like this
http://img.tomshardware.com/us/2006/02/24/diy_home_theater_pc_part_2_the_quiet_and_powerful_equation/gehaeuse-cool2-riser2.jpg

has anyone every tried that, maybe you could solder a 3.3v line to the card as well
