Voodoo2 Discussions / 2 VooDoo2 2455P question
14 March 2012, 12:55:21
You can always try, both drivers can be found on this site. This should not not damage your cards anyway. Yes, you can use your 4200 as 2D card.

Hmmm, one card ALONE gives corrupted picture..Well, try it in different PCI port but there is little hope that this one is OK...check VGA connector on the card, too.
#3
No, you can't damage your card by using SLI cable with wrong pins.. Do these two cards work normally separately? If yes you have driver problem for sure. If just one of these Voodoo 2s ALONE makes problems it is probably dying..but one can never tell for sure..
#4
I never tried double mismatched pair - not same manufacturer and different amount of memory.. If you want to try it, do it and inform us...
#5
No, it won't work. For SLI both cards have to be from same manufacturer or if not to have same layout and same ammount of memory. For mismatched voodoo 2 pair you have to use special drivers (Koolsmoky's). You can find them on this site.

Yes, so it is. You can play opengl games on winXP, too. You will have to use wickedGL, MiniGL or MesaFX for this.
experimental D3D support under winXP wth this driver:

General Discussions / slow 2D performance

Hm..it depends what you are viewing. Sites packed with flash content are soemwhat tricky for our old Voodoos. Instal flashblocker (for Firefox) and see if it helps. If not, try older drivers. Most sites should work pretty good even on Voodoos.

So, I tried my mobo A7V266-C rev 2 with V3 2000,3000 and V5 and it works like a charm although manual says "1.5 V cards only" - it is universal AGP slot on all KT266A from ASUS and on most of KT333 (A7V333).

It should work - manual really says "AGP pro slot - 1.5 V only" but people run their V5, V4 and V3 cards with no problems in it. On some a7v333 motherboards V5 also runs without problems. I bought few days ago on ebay one a7v266-e rev.2 for my retro 3dfx PC but i do not have time now to test these days. I will post here after testing.

V3 3500 does not have two RAMDACs and therefore independent signals are not possible like on Matrox G400 (Dual Head),GF2 MX, MX400,GF3,GF4 all versions and  FX cards all versions (twinview or nview), ATI Radeon all versions (hydravision). Sorry.

For V3 cards i recommend win 98(SE) and last 3dfx drivers 1.07. Third party software is very good especially Amigasport  but official driver is the best solution - even if it is three years old. If the game works it will look best (without texture anomalies) with 3dfx driver. For win 2000 and XP Amigasport 3.0 is far the best.

V3 is able to run Dungeon Siege without any problems in 1024x768 high detail(game is very CPU "hungry" though)try Amigasport driver, or 1.07 if you are 98, ME user, Morrowind: V3 cannot run this game.

PS47, try to clean the registry of any previous 3dfx drivers, turn antivirus software off if it is enabled, Amigasport should be installed without error messages.. Run\regedit\.... find address on your own -it's not so hard. At the moment ATI product is in my machine so I can't help you with this. Before cleaning uninstall curent drivers (if any are installed).
