Title: 2D and Video Playback Problems in XP
Post by: furikao on 12 January 2004, 05:31:22
Hi, I have  a AMD K6 2 450 Mhz, Teppro Banshee board, 128 MB ram, well, in Win98 I have no problems, but, in Windows XP with the "Evolution Driver 0.9" all 3D graphics run much better, but 2D and VideoPlayback like DIVx or XVID, or 2D games run slow and the movies is worst.
With the drivers of Win XP is horrible, I want to know if my problem is for the video board or for the chip AMD k6 2.
thanks

Try updating motherboard chip-set drivers and again run playback software.

Let me know.

I would say also that a K6/2 is a little "short" for XP and i would try also to add more Ram (128 -> 256 mb).

ADMIN, you're right ;) and if it's necessary to optimize his hardware, that will be probably useful to optimize XP also because this OS is "hungry". :D

some more ram would really help you out, 256mb should be fairly cheap and very helpful, if you have enough cash, get 512. XP hogs ram, but with enough ram, even a P233MMX can run it (I did with a P233 and 384mb SDRAM:D, ran fairly well, too)

i know how u can fix this ; u dont need more ram - u just need FFdshow
Uninstall DivX, Xvid and all other decoding software (i just keept AC3 filter) and then install FFDshow
all will be OK then [8D]
