 11.01.2006   PC Gaming: NVIDIA nForce & AMD Athlon 64 FX-60 Dual-Core CPU

SANTA CLARA, CA—JANUARY 11, 2006—NVIDIA Corporation (Nasdaq: NVDA), the worldwide leader in programmable graphics processor technologies, today announced that the Company's family of award-winning NVIDIA nForce4 media and communications processors (MCPs) for AMD64 platforms support the new AMD Athlon 64 FX-60 dual-core processor announced yesterday.

The potent combination of NVIDIA nForce core-logic solutions with the AMD Athlon 64 FX-60 dual-core processor-based systems solidifies the PC as an ultimate gaming platform, due in part to the focus on performance that both NVIDIA and AMD are committed to delivering to the PC enthusiast community. The dual-core capabilities of the new AMD Athlon 64 FX-60 processor combined with the advanced architecture of the NVIDIA nForce4 MCPs and support for the acclaimed NVIDIA SLI multi-GPU technology provide the technological foundation for driving today's hottest games and demanding digital media applications, including the playback of high-definition video.

Along with advanced security and storage capabilities, including support for RAID 5 and next-generation SATA 3G/sec. hard drives, NVIDIA nForce4 MCP-based platforms have received hundreds of awards by industry-leading publications catering to the PC enthusiast communities.

"NVIDIA and AMD share a common goal of delivering industry-leading and innovative PC performance technologies to consumers," said Bob Brewer, corporate vice-president Desktop Division, Microprocessor Solutions Sector (MSS), AMD. "Combined with the launch today of our new AMD Athlon 64 FX-60 dual-core processor, and NVIDIA's continued growth in providing cutting-edge core-logic solutions for our processors, we are excited about the revolutionary performance opportunities our combined technologies and capabilities provide to our system builder community and enthusiast customers."

"AMD led the way with the 64-bit computing transition in 2005, and we believe the new Athlon 64 FX-60 dual-core processor will help showcase the demonstrable benefits that dual-core capability brings to consumer and professional platforms," said Drew Henry, general manager of MCP business at NVIDIA. "We expect the dual-core architecture provided by AMD combined with NVIDIA SLI multi-GPU technology will continue to solidify AMD's winning position as the provider of preferred CPUs for consumer PC gaming platforms."
