Milano, 9 Giugno 2009 – Seagate (NASDAQ: STX) presenta i risultati ottenuti dal Savvio 10K.3, il
suo hard disk interno destinato al mercato enterprise, in un nuovo benchmark. Il disco ha raggiunto
risultati eccezionali nell’ SPC Benchmark 1C/Energy (SPC – 1C/E), la nuova estensione del benchmark
1 (SPC-1). Il nuovo benchmark rappresenta il primo nel settore dello storage che consente di misurare il
consumo di energia dei componenti di storage. Il benchmark evidenzia l’uso di energia atteso negli
ambienti che impongono carichi di lavoro pari a zero (idle), leggeri, di livello moderato o pesante su
una configurazione di test. Nel caso specifico è stato utilizzato un 24-drive array con oltre 7 terabyte di
archiviazione. Il benchmark ha evidenziato un uso annuale di energia di 1,765.41 kWh e pianificato un
costo annuale di energia pari a $ 211,85 a $ 0.12/kWh. Ciò renderà il Savvio 10K.3 una scelta
interessante per le soluzioni di storage Tier 1 in materia di prezzo, potenza, capacità e prestazioni.
Il benchmark SPC-1C/E è costituito da un set completo di misurazioni SPC-1C delle prestazioni,
combinato con la misurazione e il reporting dell’uso energetico. SPC-1C/E è il primo benchmark
standard di settore a fornire un report dei consumi di energia unito ad un report delle performance.

The SPC’s new industry-standard SPC-1C/E benchmark extension consists of the complete set of SPC-1C performance measurements and reporting, combined with measurement and reporting of energy use.
