============================

Thank you for downloading this demo.

============================
BEFORE WE START
============================
This demo was created/recorded with UT patched to v428.
You MUST patch to v428 before using this demo.

============================
INSTALLING THE DEMO
============================
Within this archive, you will find :
1) readme.txt : what you're reading now
2) Thunder.dem : the actual demo file

Copy the "Thunder.dem" file to UT's /system folder, like this :

C:\UnrealTournament\system\

============================
USING THE DEMO
============================
For the purpose of benchmarking and maintaining consistency,
you should do the following *first* :
1) Load up the game
2) At the main menu, click on :

Tools / System Console

3) In the resulting window, type :

preferences

... and you will be brought back into your desktop, with the game's
"Advanced Options" GUI now available.

4) In the GUI :
a) click on the "Rendering" option,
b) then click the "+" sign next to the"Direct3D support" option
c) then click the "Reset to Defaults" button (**see below why)
d) do the same for other rendering options (i.e. apply "Reset to
Defaults" to other rendering options like "Glide" and the rest,
since you may be using Direct3D, Glide or others for your
particular system/hardware)

5) Click on the GUI's close button and you'll be brought back to
the game's main menu.

6) At the main menu, close the system console, then select the
"Tools" menu and select/tick the "Timedemo Statistics" option.

7) Start a game (be it practice or tournament).

8) Once in a game, bring down the console by pressing the
"~" key (next to the "1" key") and type the following :

demoplay thunder

... hit ENTER quickly followed by the "~" key again (to lose the console).

9) The demo will play and run its course, with some real-time framerate
stats being displayed.

10) Once the demo ends, you'll be brought to a black screen with the
game's logo. Bring down the console (press the "~" key) and look
for the last line, which should give you an "Average" framerate.

**Resetting Direct3D etc. options to Default is best applied for "standardized"
benchmarking purposes (so that you can compare with others, using the
same settings). It *may* also prevent crashes when benchmarking (don't
ask me why but for some reason, if I change any Direct3D etc. options, the
demo will crash at random times).
