Hi guys,
I'm asking you as the subject: which driver are you using for Voodoo4 or Voodoo5 cards?
Please specify Operative System too.
Your replys could be useful both to all as a reference and to 3dfxzone as users feedback.

Always the newest SFFT for Windows XP ... or a Amigamerlin which is based on it. For Windows 98 SE I'm using the Raziel Evolution. Newer versions for that OS would be nice too.

I'm using AmigaMerlin 3.1 R11 on the following cards under WinXP Pro USA + SP2:
Voodoo5 5500 PCI with Bios 1.11
Voodoo5 5500 PCI Macintosh with PC Bios 1.18DVI
Voodoo4 4500 PCI Macintosh with PC Bios 1.18DVI
only AM 3.1 R11 doesn't see the V4 as a Voodoo5 5500 PCI Macintosh though it does see the V5 as a Voodoo5 5500 PCI Macintosh, maybe Amigamerlin forgot to add a support string?

Voodoo 4 4500 PCI
Voodoo 5 5500 PCI
I've used both AmigaMerlin and SFFT.
I noticed overall that the AmigaMerlin drivers are faster but less stable then the SFFT drivers.
(V5 5500 PCI Q3 demo /w MesaFX ~90fps in amigamerlin and ~56fps in SFFT)
Currently i am using SFFT latest + Mesa FX + GlideXP. On my system they are the most stable, although there are some strange glitches with Direct3D (example : after exiting UT2004 - strange scanlines remain on the desktop). I am using a LCD monitor btw.
My system:
Abit IP35-E
C2D e6750 @ 3.2ghz
4x1gb ddr2 800
Voodoo 5 5500 PCI
Antec Trio 550W PSU
OS: Windows XP SP3 32bit |
Voodoo 1 | Voodoo 2 DiamondMonster | Voodoo Rush | Voodoo 4 4500 | Voodoo 5 5500 (all PCI) |

my 3dfx cards that have been in service since 2003 and 2005 are these two:
3dfx Voodoo5 5500 PCI 64MB SDRAM Rev.A1 2900 + PC Bios 1.11
&
3dfx Voodoo5 5500 PCI Macintosh 64MB SDRAM Rev.A1 2900 + PC Bios 1.18_LCD
The both use SFFT Alpha 41 Modified by ps47, I need this driver for further research and stability tests for DXX-Rebirth, I made a Guide on how to get DXX-Rebirth running on you Voodoo3, 4 and 5 cards over here @ x-3dfx.com:

For my 3dfx Voodoo3 3500C AGP 16MB + TV-Out Rev.A 4199 I am using AmigaSport 3.0xP for Win2KPro/XP 
I am hoping to see an Amigamerlin 3.2 for Voodoo3, 4 & 5 someday, one unified driver fro bot Avenger & Napalm, yet I have no idea if that is possible? 
It's always good to have some hopes, right!  |

Holy hell! I gotta say it's awesome to see this community up and thriving in the year 2013 no less. :D I haven't been on in ages but I'm starting to get some renewed interest. I have a V5500 Mac on 66mhz pci, copper gpu sinks, on WinXP. I typically just run Amigamerlin3.1r11 as my usual goal is more frames in DOOM3 w/thunderGL. (P4 3ghz w/hyperthreading gets spanked by Athlon64 2800+ in Doom3. Same ram, same drives.) I have ran SFFT 1.9 Seems to work fine, better compatibility in newer games, but requires a restart every now and then or I see a 3dfxvsm crash in XP SP2.
I did make a frankenstein Amigamerlin SFFT cross back in the day. Dropped the 3dfxvsm from SFFT (1.3 I believe) into the driver install and it ran HL2 with 2xAA all the way through at high frames. Only problem was texture corruption on the water, and if I disabled AA crash after three seconds.
I also got 3dMark 2001 to run via WineD3D into mesaFX (yay for GLIDE) a couple times. High frames but bizarre color and texture corruption. I think this is going to be my main interest if I find time to Voodoo it up again. |

Hay Radeux!!! Great to see you here too mate! I am working on something big 3dfx wise, I'll make a topic about this on this forum in a bit it's Dual P3/S 1400Mhz with a Heavily modded PC Flashed V5 5500 PCI Macintosh xD
