In my travels, I have noted that the Voodoo architecture scales based more on FSB speed than CPU speed. The faster your FSB, the more powerful your Voodoo card is going to be. That is the only explaination why a dual Athlon MP setup scores worse than a single Athlon XP setup. One is 133Mhz(DDR), the other is 166Mhz(DDR).

Yep – a new CPU. Every Voodoo is very CPU dependant due to the lack of HW T&L, mainly when testing such a T&L-optimized Voodoo-hater like the 3DMark series. ;)

then its normal score on P3 -825mhz and V55k [?] (1280)

btw
i think in games/3dmarks CPU Amd is better than Intels Core [:I]

System:

AMD Athlon XP 2700+ (Tbred) @ 2167
Epox 8k5a2+
1gb corsair ddr333
Voodoo5 5500 (1.18 @ 166)
win98se (using the lastest inof. service pack)
1.04.00 3dfx ref. driver set
(geo. assi. turned off)

3dmark2000: 5932
3dmark2001: 3013
(may win98se gives a little boost)

guess using a voodoo56k upto 8k should be possible with some tweaks ;)

and by the way intel machines aren't that much worse at all using a voodoo5 5500. my tualatin 1,4 is pretty close to the athlon xp in all game-benches I did (Q3A 110(AMD) ~ 101 (Intel). only the 3dmark benches are showing a difference between 300~500 points.

Hi,

I know it's a long time but if you have the hardware, could you run some benchmark to compare with my results in that thread (http://www.3dfxzone.it/enboard/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=16745)?
Do you know if that sempron 2600 s754 is such a bad cpu for voodoo gpu in general?  I'll try to get my hands on the best or second best cpu that ms-7032 can handle if that could help.

Greetings to all members of 3dfxzone.it

I am new to the forums, I've read if for quite a while but never posted before.

I want to express my gratitude to people like Daniel Borca, Koolsmoky and many other developers whom have made possible that we can use our 3dfx hardware even today, and to all the members who have helped so much to keep 3dfx alive, I hope I can to collaborate to go on.

I saw alex.turovsky benchmarks, and I realized that he has very similar hardware to mine, so I wanted to share my benchmarks with you.

Pentium III-S 512KB L2 Tualatin 1266mhz overclocked to 1600 mhz !
512RAM (Intel 815E-B chipset limit)
Shuttle Spacewalker AE25 non RAID
3DFX VOODOO 5 5500 stock BIOS 166mhz not Overclocked and running on retail heatsinks

I ran few different benchmarks with different FSB frequencies, I attach some files.

It puzzles me that I got 2107 3DMarks, but I am running on stock heatsinks and my voodoo5 5500 agp at 166MHZ. Nevertheless I run on XP and it is quite tweaked, so maybe it helps.

Greetings to all and if anyone wants to contact me I provide my contact data on my profile
