Hi everyone,

It appears that there could be a Voodoo 6000 scam on ebay at the moment...

2 weeks ago an auction was held from 3 voodoo cards from a seller in Brazil at http://offer.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewBids&item=8817968967

This auction seemed to have failed as the winner is no longer a registered user, and it appears the auction was relisted again at http://offer.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewBids&item=8822261540

The problem is that I know the winner who has just paid US$355, but had another bidder contact him with the following information:

quote:
i don't normally contact people like this, but i just found this a little bit too fishy to ignore. the reason i asked if you paid, is because both myself and a friend that bid lower than i did, received 2nd chance offers, both stating: The Winning bidder didnt have paid, so its your chance. my friend only bid up to 100$...and if you know anything about the voodoo5 6000, you know that it goes for way more than 100$, not to mention that both of the 2nd chance offers i speak of, are currently active, which means that he i saying he has 3 cards (1 for you, and 2 for the possibility of sale for me and my friend)...very unlikely. this is also the 3rd auction this guy has put up before, claiming that the previous sellers have not paid, except that the pictures for each card are different, and match previous ones up for sale by other sellers in the past that actually sold the cards for well over 2000$. if you already paid him, i would definitely ask for some proof as to it being shipped out, or the tracking # immediately. if you do contact him and ask about it, please don't mention myself or my friend, for good reasons. i find it very odd that anyone has more than 1 of these cards, as they are not common. i'm not trying to alarm you, but receiving a 2nd chance offer on this particular item, for only in the amount of 300$, seems rather odd to me, as these go for more than that easily. my friend mentioned that he may contact you as well. if he does, his id is **************. he may have other information that may interest you. i would be more than willing to pay 300$ to get the v5 6000 alone, but this just sounds a little bit too odd to me, and given the circumstances, too risky as well. i have also contacted other sellers to see if they have received 2nd chance offers as well, but no word back yet. there may be a possibility that he has more than 1, but that is very unlikely. feel free to contact me again, if you have any questions.

This person has a high feedback and is quite far down the list of winning bidders so I'm not considering the idea that he is trying to get a second chance offer.

I'm not sure it's a genuine sale. Be warned. Be careful, and if anyone has any information to add here that would be appreciated.

I also got ripped off. No refund. Too late to log complaint. I travel for work and had no email access at the time. The guy was also from Brazil. The listing mentioned multiple VSA series cards, and he stated that the first buyer bailed on him. He deregistered from ebay. I suspect that all his references (~20) were from his buddies. May not be the same listing, but is the same person.

The person who "bailed" was Australian. So he probably got your money, my money, and others.

Sorry to hear that Patrick!

I must say for a moment I was real excited I was going to get a piece of 3Dfx history and that's what the "Harvey Crumpet" was playing on. Damn it.
