Hello to everyone. I am new to the forum and i would like very much of your help. I have a celeron 635mhz, 256 mb ram and a voodoo3 3000 running on windows xp professional.

I have tried mesafx, amigasport 3 and many other driver kits in order to run succesfully neverwinter nights and blood omen 2 but couldn't have positive results. Although the drivers are running without problems on windows environment, in games i can't achieve compatibility.

To be more specific, in neverwinter nights, the game loads, i hear the sound of the starting videos but can't see image. After them, the game continues to the menu screen but there i can barely see the buttons (start game, options etc.) and nothing more. So the game isn't playable so far. The same happens in ENCLAVE game.

What's more, in blood omen 2, the game runs ok with the driver that windows xp recognise by default, although the textures and the graphics are not displayed correctly. However, when i put a 3d party driver for the card in order to fix the problem, the game crashes and the system reboots. Any ideas how to fix it?

Please, anyone help! I would gladly appreciate your help and instructions.
NOTE: I haven't tried hujer hoe's drivers because i cannot find them anywhere. Every link i have reached to download it is down. Any tips about it also?

THNAK YOU VERY MUCH IN ADVANCE!!!

About Enclave, the game has an OpenGL renderer (unsupported) that you would run using the file “RenderSel.exe” in the RenderSelector directory placed in the root of the install directory.
Did you try it ?

edit : in the game, you have probably a file "environment.cfg"
in it you can read the VID_RENDER. In the demo, no choice : you can only run in D3D so the line is VID_RENDER=Direct3D8.
But in opengl, what's the line VID_RENDER=??

why not? the enclave readme file says that cards should be at least 16 mb. Mine is 16mb. I'll try and see. By the way, is there any program or method to make my voodoo3 3000 faster? an overclocking utility or something? please enlighten me. And if anyone succeeds in playing blood omen 2 without crashes, please let me know. thanx everyone

Yes, SFFT' driver is probably the best option under DirX and XP.
Enclave (demo) runs with my V5 under Millenium and DirX8.1b.
But since this game has an opengl renderer, this is perhaps also an (other) option for a Voodoo3.

Grab the driver here :
http://www.3dfxzone.it/news/puntatore.php?uid=510
Download alpha "16" for Voodoo3
(this is is fact the Sfft V3 Alpha17)

You will need probably to play with the different modes of the driver.
Setup also the options in the game at the mini or disable some options (on/off)

hey nightbird, here's an interesting thing for you:

i tried to play enclave without the ssfx driver you mentioned (just with my modified 3rd party driver - as it is used to play neverwinter nights and blood omen 2). In Opengl selection, i received the following notes :"The Default Opengl ICD 'GDI Generic' is being used. Please install the proper drivers for your 3d accelerator card. if this is not the intent. Press ok to proceed" After this, the game crashes with the message : "MOS exception report
0000
0001"

In Direct3d selection, i get : ":could not create hardware acceleration direct3d device"

Waiting for your thoughts.!!

What's your "modified 3rd party driver" ?

Remember the file "environment.cfg" ?
you can read it with "notepad"
Under opengl, how the line VID_RENDER=?? is written ?
