Well, we can't help much if you don't describe the system. I suppose that you are trying to put an AGP 4x or 8x video in a AGP 2x mobo. Again - I suppose. What's the mobo, the PSU... ?

That's odd. There might be a problem with the AGP 4x support on your motherboard. Can you try another AGP 4x video ? The other problem might be the power supply unit.

Have you tried to use another AGP video, a TNT2/GF1/2 or Radeon 7xxx/8xxx for example ? I'm beginning to think that there is something with that GF4MX440.

Indeed, i read it and nothing about that.
But some ideas :
Can you check that your card is seated firmly in its slot ?
Try to press down firmly (but carefully) on the card

edit : Procomp site offline

Or maybe it's making bad contact. Make sure both the AGP slot and the video are clean.

I hope it's not, but that GF4MX might have been accidentaly damaged. A static electricity discharge kills PC equipement instantly. If someone has touched it when he was charged, even if he didn't feel it, might have caused damage to the video. Try it again on your friend's PC, to see if it's working properly.

bloodworm

have you tried upgrading the VIDEO CARD BIOS???  If other cards work in the system, then the card is most likely the fault.  do you have another gf4 mx440 to put in this rig? and does the card work in another motherboard?

The AGP 2x connector (the one that the VooDoo has) should have one notch and the AGP 4x - two notches, so they are OK.
