hi everyone !   few days ago i got an old compaq presario 5000LA , year 2000 with windows 98 intel celeron 766mhz and of course the voodoo 3 2000 , the monitor ( LED ) dont works under win98 so i install it win xp professional and that solve the problem .  i install the amigasports 3.0 driver and i got the problem with the 3dfxtools registering the modules or something like that but it works ok .

the problems are the following :

my brother , the other day trying to solve some problems , he accidentally delete the voodoo 3 BIOS, now in the BIOS info says : SECONDARY DEVICE -- NO ROM ALLOWED . and i dont know how to install the BIOS again. i downloaded the sg bios named "2k01sg.rom" but the question is .. how i install the file ?
i try to use " update drivers" but it doesn't works...

the other problem is when i going to play a game , like counter strike 1.6 , i only can play it under "software" mode , opengl doesnt works and direct x neither .

before doing all this, max payne works perfectly but now got a lots of issues .

so , thankyou for read this  , and i hope that someone got the answers for my problems...

it seems that you don't have a bios problem.
It's a driver problem since you can start the windows !

so, my suggestion is to uninstall the 3dfx drivers, and to reinstall them again.
( try to use the software "drive cleanaer" - it recognize the 3dfx also )

anyway, take a look here :

thankyou!!!  that help me a lot , i solve the problem with the bios ! but is like you said , is not a bios problem...

i delete all my drivers with the "driver cleaner" and i install all again. 3dfxtools still got problem with register the modules ,advtweak.dll ,color.dll ,lcd.dll etc. anyways seems to work ok . now i can run counter strike 1.6 in opengl mode but very slowly and minimum memory errors , direct x doesnt works... idk what is the problem with direct x ...

problem with openGl slowly SOLVED , i just install mesaFX and now counter strike run's a lot better !
