Playing old Glide games somehow

Greetings,

I've been digging into my old games, and wondering if there is any way I'll ever be able to play some of them.  While installing various things onto my Voodoo5 system, I've run across some games that won't work - though I can't be sure what version of Glide they are looking for.  Lots of games say that they support a 3Dfx chipset, but aren't specific about which ones - so it has been trial and error.

I'm wondering if there are any tricks to getting older titles to work on later 3Dfx boards.

Some games that I've tried to get going are the original Carmageddon for 3Dfx, Whiplash 3D, Elder Scrolls - Redguard, and Resident Evil.

Carmageddon and Whiplash, for example, were Voodoo1 games.  Carmageddon could be coaxed into running on a Voodoo2 with some visual defects as I recall, but Whiplash is one that I have always missed.

At one point, I even tried putting my Voodoo1 card back into a newer system, but it wouldn't even boot with the card installed.  I may also be able to install a Voodoo2 SLI into a newer system that has a different primary video card, and am curious if anyone is doing this.

Of course, getting old Glide games to run on the Voodoo5 would be even better.

Any suggestions?

hi.. if ypu want the max compatibility with old games, you must absolutely install windows 98 se or inferior..

(windows 95 osr 2 suggested)
Powered by ALL Voodoo..

I am using Windows98se on that system, although these games still won't run on a Voodoo5 since they are hard wired for early versions of Glide.  I have found one glide emulator that runs some of these games in OpenGL, called Glidos.
