Best Mainboard for Voodoo5 6000 AGP?

Currently my v5 6000 card is on it's way to Hank and he'll take a look at it (HiNT Bridge blown - maybe more...).

Meanwhile i would like to ask which mainboards are optimal for a v5 6000. I would like to use an Intel Chipset, Slot-1 or Socket370. Hank told me, that the PCI Bus behind the HiNT HB1-SE66 won't tolerate too much Overclocking, so i cannot use my i440BX Boards (2/3 AGP multiplier) in combination with Tualatin P-III S Processors...  (AK4 - AG1 mod to run on older GTL+ Chipsets with 1.5VTT).

I don't really want to use i815EP, so i'd like to try i820 Camino (pure Rambus - no MTH, 1/2 AGP multiplier). Does anybody here have any experiences with Intel based Mainboards + v5 6000 or v5 6000 AGP OC?

Thanks in advance.

So best choice are still i820 with Rambus memory because you can't setup 3dfx card like V5 6000 in an Intel P4 system due a too low AGP voltage against 3.3V voltage request by Voodoo. If you want use V5 6000 with P4 cpu must plane only a motherboard with SiS or VIA chipset.

No, i don't want to use it in conjunction with a P4 processor. Dunno why, i just don't like the combination P4 + Voodoo4/5 at all. So I ordered an Asus P3C-E i820 Board via ebay (19 Euros! rofl..) plus one 256MB Samsung RIMM. I already possess a P3C-E BIOS with Tualatin Microcodes and i have modified a 1.26GHz P-III S processor to run on GTL+ environments. A friend of mine tried that with a 1.13GHz P-III S and P3C-E + v5 5500, works fine and very stable.

Should be a nice system. Exactly what i would like for my 6000! =) I hope that there are no compatibility problems.

Asus P3C-E @ 133 - 160MHz FSB (AGP: 66 - 80MHz)
Pentium-III "Server" @ 1.26 - 1.52GHz
256MB Samsung PC800/16-45 RAMBUS w. ECC @ 400 - 480MHz DRSL
3dfx Voodoo5 6000 AGP / HiNT 3700 Revision @ 166MHz

Well, i like it the more "exotic" way and the more "Intel" Way. ;)

Tualatin P-III S @ i820 System + v5 6000 is now up and running! Had to do some workaround to compensate for the P3C-E's incompatibility with HB1-SE66, but now everything seems to work absolutely smooth.

There are still problems with UT2003, but i hope i can fix that soon. OS is now Win98SE, Drivers are Amigamerlin 2.9! Some things do not work very well in Win2000 unfortunately... I'll experiment a bit later, System is configured for Win98SE / Win2000 Dual-Boot.

Elvis posted a few pics over at x3dfx of his system. He uses a Soyo Dragon KT 333, or something like that. I dunno, mybe Elvis can verify this.;)

Anyone running one of these?

I'm not looking to overclock, just want a stable new board.

Thought I would add a bit on- I'm looking for the fastest supported AMD single CPU board for running a AGP 5500 & 6000 that can still be purchased new for a dual boot (98SE & 2000 Pro) machine.

And I'm not looking to overclock, so overclocking features are a non-issue.

=)

Yes, I'm looking at all the boards now, lots of confusing info though.

Easy, the fastest : the Barton 3000+ but you need probably a mobo in its last revision or a very recent mobo (but always with a support for Agp 2x - 3.3 v) with a updated bios.
Mine : Asus A7V333 Revision 2.0 and Albatron KX400+ Pro
2 mobos chipset KT333 - the last chipset Via with a support for Agp 3.3v - and running with a Barton 3000+.
My others mobos don't support the Barton or/and Fsb 2*166.

edit : only the Albatron supports the V5 5500 and 6000

Been looking for these- Any "Ultra 2" will do or does it have to be a certain board revision+?
