the test can be downloaded at : http://www.glexcess.com
screenshots : http://www.glexcess.com/shots.htm?3

it will generate a result using Internet Explorer (i.e. a html file).
to make V2 runs on it, simply copy the "openGL32.dll" to the GLexcess folder, it will autometically use the primary (i.e. 845GL) graphics controller to runs the test if you don't copy the dll.
test candidates: (Detailed Specs of the computer can be seen in my signature below)
1. V2 SLI
2. Intel Extreme Graphics onboard (845GL)

all drivers used default settings

for V2 SLI, different openGL "Drivers" are used, they are:
1. MESAFX 6.1.0.8
2. MESAFX 6.1.0.9 (the one allowing V4/5 to play Doom3)
3. WickedGL
all of the V2 drivers have some problems on this OpenGL test.
(only problems of each driver is stated) --
please refer to the standard screenshot, the problems are compared with the standard result

for MESAFX 6.1.0.8
1.the "Loading"screen is corrupted with a white rectangle instead of a bar of bubbles showing the load progress by changing colors
2. for scene 8(the waterfall scene), thin red lines are seen on the screen
3. for scene 10(the nity city scene), thin red lines are seen on the screen and the lights from the shooting star and spotlights becomes thick rectangles

for MESAFX 6.1.0.9 (Doom3 OGL)
same problems with MESAFX 6.1.0.8

for Wicked GL
1. for scene 1 (the logo with flashy light - waver), the flying flashy light disappeared, only some lights effects there
2. for scene 2 (the face scene - facescape), all the cone shape things that zoom around become nothing, only the initial wire frame and the final face can be seen, problems with the texts that shows during the test
3. for scene 4 (crypt scene), the table at the final frames have distorted colors
4. for scene 5 (chasing spaceship scene), the ships are gone, leaving only the flame from the propeller
5. for scene 7 (water scene), the water surface reflection disappeared
6. for scene 9 (laser scene), the laser become stragne and too simplified

because of these problems, some results are not 100% comparable (most appearant for Wicked GL, please only use unaffected scene to compare
(intro scene, scene 3, scene 6 and outro). these problems are related to the driver and can be fixed using software method (maybe this's only my small fantasy and wish~~but everybody needs dreams)

the results are as follows (please beware that the results showing scene 1-12, but the original homepage and tests uses differents numbers: scene 1 as intro, scene 2-11 as scene 1-10, and scene 12 as outro)

as you can see, 845GL (brookdale G) performs a bit better than V2, but the different is significantly smaller than in DirectX tests

seems strange, but the opengl driver for V4/5 to play Doom3 performs better on a V2 on the test than original driver, maybe some settings for Doom3 give positive effects

Conclusion:
MESAFX does make old V2 to do modern randering, but it behaves worse than wickedGL when both can get the same result (scene 9-10), and sometimes WGL have the correct thing but not mesaFX (e.g. the spotlight in scene 10)

why? oh why? why do i have to repeat myself... endlessly...
1) mesafx_d3 os for Doom3 ONLY! Doom3 ONLY! Doom3 ONLY! Capisci?
2) iirc - and i do - there is a MESA_FX_MAXLOD option. but i really couldn't find WICKEDGL_FIX_FRIGGIN_BUGS!
so, unless you have read the docs, stop bitching!

right! so let's compare the "okay" scenes only. let's compare two cars by looking at the tires only...

i am so sorry that i irritated you and make you exhausted (i appreciate the doom3 on V5, it really makes V5 lives forever~~)

but i just do it for curious..actually the problemous screen will show up whatever which version of MESAFX i use, yes, EVERY version Including the 6.1.08 (and that's the reason why i use your Doom3 Patched OpenGL "Driver" and Wicked GL, as i wanna find out it's a driver specific problem...i am not bitching, i am stating the fact..)
and actually the screen was taken using a 6.1.0.8 MESA FX driver..
I can't run GLExcess using 6.1.09, that's what i wanna say..

also it's no point to compare the parts goes wrong caused by specific driver as it doesn reveal the actual performance of the hardware itself, doesn't it? (otherwise GFFX5950 is faster than 9800XT because it have better driver cheat in Aquamark....and that's pointless)

I am not a Computer Expert, just a curious user..that's what i gonna explain

not only you are exhausted, many people are too....

primo, i never said you should have used another mesa version. i only said you should use the "special-doom3-hacking-sh!t" only for doom3.

secundo, i know that screen is taken with mesafx. but there is a workaround, which, obviously you have missed. should you have read the documentation and/or thread closer, you should have overcomed it easily...

tertio, if a certain version of mesafx doesn't work for a certain hardware, i'd appreciate if you report (like every other people does) on the mesa thread.

last, but not least, comparing the parts _is_ wrong, because hardware is nothing without control. what's the point of having huge capabilities if you can't control them? or can control them only in special occasions? does that mean your hardware is superior?

Thanks daniel, i will read the MesaFX documentations carefully and optimize the V2 on OpenGL

Thanks Daniel, after reading the documentations carefully (also the MESAFX thread), i found the solution finally (the MESA_FX_MAXLOAD)
thanks a lot!!
MESAFX is very good for Voodoo and it make them up-to-date!!
really thanks Daniel, you are the best!

intel 845GL is better than V2 or V5[^].all the games from farcry to doom3 or eveen COD run better than voodoo

i haven't tried farcry nor Doom3 on that board as it won't allow me to overclock my CPU

FarCry wont run on voodoo cards at all!.......or, have you been able to :D

I don't believe that IEG will be able to beat V5 as the performance of IEG can be only compared with GeForce 2 MX Series while V5 can hunt down GeForce 2 Pro
