Hi everyone :)

First of ALL.My sistem specs are:

Windows XP Home Edition]
Intel Celeron 1200MHz
40GB
254MB RAM
DirectX 8.1 (4.08.01.0810)
Creative 3D Blaster Banshee
Driver:Raziel64 BansheeXP v5.3

I'm about to DUMB[:(!] my Creative 3D blaster Banshee MODEL:6760, Actually I do have a Voodoo 5 5500 PCI, but one of my favorites games is NFS3, I've already seen this game running smooth and flawlessly over a Banshee card and win98 of course[:(], I bought this card just a week ago hoping the same behavior over WIN XP.

I've had a lot of problems so far, first of all I coudn't even run the game I was getting this Abort Error:

Then I figured out the reason I was needing a patch, so I did donwload it.

And then I could run the game but just with a few drivers, Im not even running the game with *BansheeXP raziel64* after the patch has benn applied I was getting the same error with the same driver*raziel64* not quite sure why....[:(!] with evolution 0.9 drivers after the patch was applied I was able to run the game but there was a problem just look by yourself:

I am not getting any resolution at all [xx(] it just say *BAD TEXT INDEX 0* click on it and nothing appears, also the menu and the carshow seems to be slowly than normal, then the round logo and the little light that pass over the upper area from the right side of the screen to the logo goes so FAST!! [:0] I think thats not normal at all as well. I've been getting the same error over and over with ALL of these *above* drivers..

I've installed EVERY Banshee Driver OUT there, those are:
1.3dfxzone.it Banshee XP v1.0
2.BansheeXP raziel64 v3.5
3.Evolution 0.9
4.Banshee DriversXP (h)

WHAT'S HAPPENING?? Will I be able to play NFS3 with a 100% perfect GLIDE? or do I have to trash my banshee hehe, any hope?

can anyone help me please? :) I would really appreciate it..[:(]

Thanks a lot! :)

Well... NFS3... let me see...
Maybe there's a way to run the game... try to set it in D3D mode...
How?... use the Start Menu->Run way ;) .. and where says ...nfs3.exe" put ...nfs3.exe" -D3D0
Note: I don't remeber exactly... if you want try with the -D3D option, w/o the zero...

Hi,

Thanks a lot for your help, I did try it and it was fine the game ran well, but Im not quite sure of it, is not what I've been expeting all this time, it looks just like it did with my voodoo5 the same thing its just not even closely better [xx(], I think Banshee would NEVER have a good performance over WIN XP, everything I'd do would be useless I've really tried everything it JUST cannot be done.[:(] I should have gotten a Voodoo2, NFS3 run just perfectly with it even with XP. just look at this pic by 3dfxzone.it *Usins Win xp PRO and Voodoo2:

That's the quality I've been expeting so far, I think the only way to run this game is actually having two OS in a single computer, I mean having win xp and win 98 together on a computer,

Can I do that??  I have heard of it, does anyone know how to do it??? any program? I would like to turn on the PC then there would appear a Welcome windows that would let you choose between Win XP and WIN 98...

Hope anyone knows the answer ^_^

thank you again Raziel :D

A dual boot system is quite easy to setup.
First install Win98SE, after that install WinXP on a different partition or different drive. WinXP automatically detects there is already a OS installed and if you choose to keep it, there will be a boot manager after WinXP installation that lets you choose th OS every time you start/restart your PC.

Try running the game, or even installing it, in Windows 95 or 98/ME compatability mode, this game was not designed to run on NT/2k/XP. Also go into the "3dsetup" folder (in the game folder) and run the "3dsetup.exe" program, and see if it detects Glide (this game should run in Glide on a Banshee). If it doesn't, tru copying the "Glide2x.dll" and "Glide3x.dll" files from your /Windows/System folder into the 3DSetup folder. Run the 3DSetup.exe again, and if it still doesn't detect Glide, rename the "Voodoo2a.dll" file to something different, like "Voodoo2a.bak", and try renaming the "Glide2x.dll" file to that name. If that doesn't detect Glide, try the "Glide3x.dll" (it only needs one of these, I'm not sure which it is, although I think it's most likely the Glide3x.dll). If none of this works, post back.

EDIT: I did a write-up on dual-boot systems using a generic boot manager, XOSL, which is very effective. Check that out here

Yeah, piece of cake. You don't even have to have two HDDs. You can setup a dual boot on the same HDD. First make a "primary partition" and install Win98. Then make another "primary partition" on which to install WinXP. Here comes the tricky part: the good ol' DOS fdisk won't let you make two primary partitions. You need third party software, which will warn you about having two primaries, but don't worry (WinXP has no problems booting from other partition than C: -- unlike Win98). By the time you install WinXP, it will recognize Win98 and setup a boot menu for you.

I have 3 OSes, and personally disable WinXP's boot menu in favor of LILO (but that's another story).

hi everyone :)!!

I want to apologize for the delay I've been a bit busy recently..

Amp_man

I did everything you told me regarding 3ddata.exe but was useless[:(] also adding both Glide2x. and Glide3x.. files to the 3ddata folder they just didn't work also rename them as I was told by you, then I renamed voodoo2.dll to voodoo2.bak and it doesnt, well each time I run 3ddata.exe actually It does recognize my banshee card the problem its just when I run the game when that annoying Abort message appears every single time I hit the nfs3 logo, I almost forgot I did try changing the compatibility to win95, win2k and no good results the same abort message.

The only way to run the game is installing two os, I checked out your link and that was the info i have been looking for, truthfully its perfect I didn't even have the idea..

Well, Im going to donwload both of those programs, magic partition 8 and XOSL, then I will follow every step you mentioned on your link, I think its the best way to make and install the partition.:) I think its all right.. ;)

THANKS A LOT AGAIN!!! " amp_man " dborca and Rolo 1 :) I really appreciate it!! every reply was usefully to my limited knowledge hehe. ;)  I hope I'll do everything right, a bit confusing at firts but I think I'll pass over it and success.. I do not have win 98 now I think i'll ask someone to borrow it hope the hand the ose over.

I will post back  :D :D!!

Just one more question, my purpose on installing two Os is because I want to run muy banshee card perfectly, but Can I have two cards installed in the same computer? example: I would like to log on win98 and use my Banshee card, so If I want to use Winxp I would just unplug the VGA connector from the banshee to muy Voodoo5 and then boot the computer and run win xp with muy V5... can I do that?? I mean having two graphic cards in on mobo?? and switching between them every time I use a differente Os.. ? win 98 banshee and win xp V5... :)

once again " THANKS A LOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) I dind't expect this..
