I recently purchased a new (OEM) voodoo 3 3500TV card online.  It was a steal at 20 bucks (considering I paid about $250 for one originally in 2000) I go to install it on my system.  I got fine performance except for the lack of output of sound from the card when watching TV.  So I assume it's a faulty card, the seller promptly packages up another and sends it out.  So in this instance, I install it all fresh with a clean OS (Win ME) and it operates flawlessly.  Great!  Not really.  I have found that when you attempt to upgrade DirectX to version 8.1 or above it disrupts the audio output from the voodoo card.  This poses a problem to me because several applications I need to use require the updated DirectX.  I have searched high and low for a patch to fix this problem, no luck.  I really can't afford to purchase a new TV card now, so I'm kinda stuck with this one.

My system consists of:

Athlon T-Bird 1100Mhz Processor, 3D Now!
Voodoo 3500tv
Windows ME, 512MB PC133 SDRAM
15Gb and 60Gb Maxtor drives on Promise Ultra100
Matsu****a LF-D310 DVD-r

Hopefully that should be sufficient info.. please help..  spent too much time on this problem already!!

I suggest to upgrade your OS to Windows XP: in fact for this platform Voodoo3 3500 drivers have less compatibility issues with DirectX 8.x and above than 9X/ME releases. Use AmigaSport 2.0 3500TV-XP driver for 3dfx V3 setup under XP.

Hi Nightbird ;),

no great problem with gaming or data acquisition for V3 3500 + Windows XP + AmigaSport 2.0 3500TV-XP with a speed processor like sonofkyuss138 cpu or above. Many users have this sw/hw configuration.

Bye bye

Hi Glide :)
IMHO, no driver for the 3500tv and XP is perfect, unluckily ;
and the 3500TV is perhaps the most "special" gfx never created by 3Dfx [:p] but also the faster V3 :D

Hi sonofkyuss138!
when updating Dx to the last version, you should update your drivers to support the lattest version of the Dx. in this case, you Soundcard drivers might be outdated.

When you connect that litte cable from you V3 3500 to you CD-In (or another analog stereo) port, you must make sure of 2 things:

1st, the v3 has an Line-out and a Line-in, you must use Line-out (i guess that's not the problem has you do have sound without dx 8)

2nd, you must tell VR wich of the soundcard audio-in has the little cable connected to it.... probably an AudioCD or a Video...

Hope i've been clear enough! :)
