I wanna build a PIV system. I wanna use two Diamond Monster II (Voodoo2) in SLI. Do you know if there's some problem with the different chipsets (VIA, INTEL, SIS, etc.)
Thanks.

hum,

i run my pc's with Amd Cpu's on chipsets Via...

But I see 1 problem : the high fsb

According Quantum3D "Also be aware that Voodoo2 and Voodoo Banshee (Raven) based cards will likely not work with many newer motherboards due to a hardware incompatibility issue in the original 3Dfx chipset with a 133MHz front side bus (FSB). 133MHz front side bus is common among many modern day mainboards. Thus, if you are having problems installing or operating your Voodoo2 (Obsidian2) or Voodoo Banshee (Raven) based video card, please first verify that the motherboard for your computer system does not use a 133MHz FSB (try setting your system up to operate at 100MHz FSB if possible) and then verify you have installed the appropriate driver for the video card

so, i will try that :
- in first 1 Diamond Monster II in order to see the stability of the card then the second in SLI
- perhaps an extra cooling might help, if necessary

anyway, if your new system runs, you will have a nice pc with a perfect compatibility with the Glide :)

if you're thinking to XP, i will install also Win98SE

- PanoramixDruida:

no problem with 3dfx Voodoo2 and 3dfx Voodoo2 SLI on Pentium 4 based systems with Intel or other manufactures chipset ;)...
Enjoy

The Asus board I have has locked AGP and PCI speeds so you can OC without effecting the slots. If you don't OC you should have no problems with any of the P4 boards out there.

- Spectrobozo: good idea. You could buy another Monster 3D II 8mb (SLI with mismatched cards is no full drivers supported and sometime poor of compatibility).

What about speed issues with games running too fast! Say with games like Wipeout2097/XL or other psygnosis titles. I heard there was a tool for slowing old games down, anyone heard of it?

Voodoo5 5500 PCI DVI x3 (exorcised MAC cards)

Mo'Slo has been a favorite utility for slowing fast PCs to run speed-sensitive programs
