Escape from monkey island + Voodoo2?

I've recently found an old CD I had, Escape from Monkey Island (I dunno what part, its called Monkey 4)

Well anyway... When trying to run the game, I get an error saying: hardware not found! If I tell the game to "Troubleshoot >> OpenGL", the game finally switches to opengl mode, starts showing 3dfx logo, the logo disappears, game intro starts playing (music only) and the game freezes (black screen).

The game release notes say that the game was tested on windows 2000 (thats what I have) and voodoo2 is supported and, in fact, is one of the "base" video cards for the game. My computer easily meets all of the game's requirements.

I'm thinking that the problem is that DirectX 9.0b doesn't support earlier versions of DirectX very well... I know that 3D Mark 2001SE and earlier versions don't like it... I wonder why?

Well... The question is... Anyone makes sense of any of this? Did DX9 wreck all of my old games support?

As far as I know, there is no "real" uninstall for DX9. I've tried using one of the ones listed on this site before (about a year ago), but it crashed my windows, making me reinstall everything. Does anyone know of a GOOD uninstaller (tested at least once) that WORKS and doesn't crash the system?

The Voodoo2 doesn't work under Win2k/XP in D3D (no matter with the DirX. version - the problem is with the Win2k kernel).
If you want to run Escape from Monkey Island under DirX, that will be with your main gfx card (if supported by the game).

What does the game need like mini or recommended system ?
