Hi ! I have AM 2.5 XP SE and Windows XP Direct X 9
Athlon xp Voodoo 5500

the Freelancer menu doesnt work correctly.
most menupoints are not able to be seen.
its the first time i have really a problem trying to play a new game.

i think its a driver related problem.

with AM 2.5 XP (no SE) it was even worse.

i tried using mip map dithering. but no effect :(

i want to play that game !!! please do a fix that makes me play that great game !!!

Much THX...

Maybe i should add, that ingame graphic is really great except the
parts where things are written. You see them shortly from time to time,
but only 1 frame. so they are not really readable.

Hello!  I'm having the exact same problem.  I've posted under the thread "Bad Flicker in Direct Draw Games."  Still no luck for me yet!  I hope someone knows whats going on!

Hello all!  I've managed to fix the flicker for all the games on my system!  I don't have a copy of Freelancer, so I can't tell you if this will fix its flicker, but it did fix the flicker in every game I've had problems with.  Here is a copy of the post I made under a different thread:

Quote
Whooopie! I've fixed it! Here's what I did:

1) Uninstall 3dfx tools.
2) Reboot.
3) Search HD and remove ANYTHING with 3dfx or voodoo in it.
4) Search registry and remove ANYTHING with 3dfx or voodoo in it.
5) Install 3dhq 1.09 Beta 10 Drivers for WindowsXP.
6) Reboot.
7) Open 3dfx underground tools and make the following changes to DirectX settings:
a) Enable tripple buffer
b) Force mip-map dithering
c) Enable vertical sync
d) Enable z-buffer optimization
e) Buffered frames: 1 pending

After I did ALL that, my games were AWESOME!  Ya! Hope this helps some of you guys.

!!!NOTE!!!!  It is very important that you search your ENTIRE registry, not just Local_machine or Software.  I tried these steps before and didn't search my hard-drive and didn't search the entire registry and of course, it didn't work.  As far as I can tell, you must delete everything.

I have the same problem, as Taranis. Voodoo 5, DirectX 9 and win XP, Freelancer's menus are not working. I've never managed to get 3dhq Beta 10 drivers to work at all. So, I did exactly as johnlinford told, removed 3dfx -related stuff from my hard-drive and registry, installed 3dhq Beta 10 drivers, and made the changes to Direct3D settings.

Still not working. I continue having the same problem, as always with 3dhq 1.09 Beta 10 Drivers. That is: my computer always reboots at the beginning of any game, when I'm using those drivers. It also reboots while running DXDIAG -Direct3D test. Hardware accelerated DirectX 7 interfaces it can handle, but when DXDIAG starts to test accelerated DirectX 8 interfaces, my machine reboots. Any idea why?

yea didnt work for me too
tjt i think i saw a topic with thesolution for this in 3dhq forum

ya, I had the same problems with winxp too.  the solution is to go into "safe" mode and do all the deleting.  you must delete all references to 3dfx both in the registry AND the hard drive.  winxp has this annoying "feature" that automatically "rescues" any drivers you try to replace or delete.  I think it gets the files from some sort of "cache" folder.  once I did this and then installed the 3dhq beta 10 it worked sweet.  you should be able to see all three dx tests run flawlessly.  dx7, dx8, and dx9.

Hi all!
Drivers working (AM 2,5SE or 3dhq 1.09 Beta 10) everythings fine, everything except Freelancer (menus...). I've tried everything!!! Please, dont tell me "use '98".
