Hi all!

I haven't used my 3dfx gear in a while and was wondering if their would be any concerns running pci 3dfx cards on modern motherboards. I don't wont to fry anything.

EG: Looking at building a Asrock Z97 Anniversary with a G3258 CPU.

It's got two PCI slots - ideal for my voodoo2 boards.

I guess it all comes down to the voltage and Mhz on the PCI slots, any other considerations???

Any clarification much appreciated!

Hi trigger,

I don't see any problems at hardware level if those PCI slots are PCI legacy slots...

The only difficulty could be to run a old OS like Windows XP (if you want play with the Voodoo2) on a new hardware configuration.

Bye bye

Know thers modded drivers to get Voodoo2 to work with XP, aven think i once saw that somebody got it to work on windows 7, but not sure.

How about PCI-e sound cards for Windows XP? Any recommendations? If at all. Anyone tried USB ones?

I'll look further into drivers as well.

This looks interesting. With ISA slot too.

It's a really nice motherboard, it's hard to find motherboards wich have ISA these days.

Btw i have a ASUS Essence STX2 pci-e soundcard, and i can only recommend it. it's many many times better than onboard soundcards. Have many more details than the ASUS X79 DELUXE onboard sound. its really nice to have a soundcard with phono, as thers no need of adapters.

I'm using a old Sansui AU-D9 aplifer.
