Planning to build a retro system with Win98.  Can I install 2 video cards, one geforce 6800 agp, and one 3dfx 5500 pci on Win98?

WIN XP + SP3 = WIN for that setup, please forget Win9*SE that is rather chanceless , even with UnOfficial SP 3 nothing beats XP Pro + SP3 really 98SE compabillity mode allows you to run any old game you'd like and there is always dosbox also heh.

...or you can make a dual boot system; Windows XP Pro SP3 + Windows98 SE;)

What unofficial SP3?  There's an unofficial SP3 for Win98?

Dosbox is a bit cumbersome to use. lol

Besides, GLide/games pretty much died before XP and were made for Win9x.  I'm more interested in running older games.  And Win98 is a lot more dos-friendlier IMO.  Not really interested in trying hack/run newer games on 3dfx.  If I want to play newer games, got Geforce 580 on Win7 for that.  ;)

Dosbox is ideal because it works and you won't get any BSOD's either rofl.
Dosbox works fiine under ubuntu and Win2K, XP, Vista and even 7 x86 & x64 heh.

To be honest I am glad that 98SE is never needed, it gave me nightmares ... My 3dfx systems all have Win2K Pro USA + SP4 & dual card setups have WinXP Pro USA + SP3 and so far I ran anything on them, including The Legend of Kyrandia series which date back from 1992 to 1994 heh. The main 3dfx system has a 3dfx Voodoo3 3500C AGP + TV-Out Rev.A 2100, due to the superb high image quality output.
the other dual card based system have a HIS ATI HD 3850 ICEQ3 Turbo AGP 512MB GDDR3 + PC Flashed 3dfx Voodoo5 5500 PCI Mac 64MB D+SDR and Matrox Parhelia AGP 128MB DDR + 3dfx Voodoo5 5500 PCI 64MB SDR, these two systems have WinXP Pro USA + SP3.

Thx to Amigamerlin and SFFT we have better, faster, more reliable and more stable drivers for XP than 98SE, so then again with XP Pro + SP3 you will have a much better setup, as dualcard setups would lead to, why my main 3dfx system has Win2K pro + SP4? well it's much more stable, crash free and reliable than any 98SE setup, it's made for old games that run fine under 2K so yer, still no 98SE needed here :)

my main system has 2x EVGA GTX 580 Super Clocked Ediitons it has Dual Opteron DP 2380 C2's and win7 Pro x64 also, but still when I build a PC of any kind it has to be crash free and 98SE is absolutely not crash free, do one thing wrong and the BSOD's come round, due to this, I am avoiding it even if my life would depend on it rofl.
