Right, I know it's been discussed before but this card deserves a 2009 face lift. I recently acquired a PCI version of this oven and shortly after one of the stock fans failed on me. Although I had not noticed that until I started getting graphical artifacts / blurry screen. A swift investigation proved my initial fears i.e. the inability to find a quick fan replacement. Those are no longer made and sold I am afraid. Furthermore, the remaining fan is a bit too loud for my attic and thus I am now looking for an alternative cooling solution, that is both quiet and efficient. Obviously some of you may have already done this and may have an idea or two to share with me.

On a side note, does anybody know temperature threshold for the VSA 100 chip? I need to establish how badly I may have damaged it.

I would sincerely appreciate all the input you may have about this matter.

Now I've been thinking. If the chip could be reverse engineered. Imagine a 40nm Quad V5 PCB. Would certainly ease the cooling [:p]

How quiet does it need to be, are you looking for an active or pasive cooling solution [?]
