Hi guys, well, I'm using my old 3DFX Voodoo 5 5500 on the following sistem:

- Pentium III 700 @ 811.9 MHz
- MoBo Soyo 7VCA-E
- DIMM 128 MB SDRAM 100 MHz A-Open
- HD Maxtor 3200 RPM 6,4 GB

I installed Windows xP SP2 and 3DHQ 1.09 Beta Drivers.

I've been reading others threads about overclock and I see no one with VSA's past 200 MHz frequency. Mi OC is 100% stable with Temps round 50ºC - 60ºC. I used 3D Mark 2000 and 2001 several times, and I even tested playing 2 FPS (Doom 3 & Half Life) at the same time, both @ 1280x1024x16 & 76 Hz Refresh Rate. I had no trouble at all. I can even continue increasing the speed but 68ºC warned me now. So I'm looking for some good heatsinks (I have the originals) so I can OC a bit more (220 MHz is the Top).

But I ask to you: Is my VGA really running at that incredible speed or I'm dreaming? I just can't believe ir.

I will make an extensive benchmarks at differente speeds so you can compare if 211 MHz is really worth of it.

Cheers, and please advice me.
You can easily kill everybody in most FPS, but what differences Doom from them is that sometimes you have to kill everybody with a boxer...

So 200Mhz is real for VSA100, I oveclock my voodoo5500 up to 196Mhz, if to use volt mod or change the stock cooler, I think 220Mhz is real too. So there is my result in 3DMar2001SE. url=http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=9163052

Yeah, i was thinking about volt-modding. But firstly I must buy some other heatsinks, I was looking for Zalman's. Thank's  to god it's normal to reach that speeds, I was really surprised. So I will post my 3D Mark 01 results as soon I get my new heatsinks. I overclock since I'm a child but I'd never OCed on VGAs, only CPUs.

Greetings.

i can overclock my voodoo 5500 to 220mhz but the heat is to bad to do that my pc is made for  overclocking

I would make sure my CPU/memory subsystem would handle the extra load. With a system such as yours I see no point in OC, rather than just have a big phat grin. Good luck with the heatsinks though.

the voodoo 5500 needs a  heat sink shell that has fans in it like the geforce 295 wall not as big
