Hiho,

I build a Server a few days ago.
This are the Hardware contents:

AMD K6-2 450 Mhz @ 500 Mhz
320 MB SD-RAM (2-2-2)
80 GB ExelStore Drive
CD Burner (16x)
Sound Blaster Live
USB 2.0
Voodoo 3 3000 (16MB)

Iám a 3DFX Gamer since 6 years ^^
I got 2xVoodoo 2 SLI and so on...

Actually a World of Warcraft Server is running...

So wheres the problem ?

I want to go ingame with the Server as GM, but the Voodoo 3 don´t want to start WoW :-(

I read once a week in this cool Forum and found the World of Warcraft Voodoo 5 Thread...

So make it Sense to change the Voodoo 3 for a Voodoo 5 (5500, AGP) in my PC, and should I buy a Pentium III Board to change out the AMD ?

My Idea:
( Voodoo 3 3000 16MB AGP --> Voodoo 5 5500 64MB AGP ) ?
( Socket 7 Motherboard --> Slot 1/370 Motherboard ) ?
( AMD K6-2 (450 Mhz) ---> Intel Pentium III (500 or more Mhz) ) ?

I hope you can help me :-)

P.S: Some Piccs of my Airbrush Star Trek PC ^^

Thats the reason why I build a AT PC Server...: (I love it)

hi.

you can start WoW whit voodoo 3 using SFFT drivers. but there are lot of textures are missing (larger than 256x256)

Buy KT266 chipset based mainboard, or KT333 (MSI KT3 Ultra2), and buy 1700+ Athlon XP (very good for overclock)
AMD Athlon64 3200+@4200+, MSI K8N Neo4-F, 1gb Supertalent 480mhz, VooDoo 5 5500 Mac@PC

As you want to play WoW I would definitely buy the latest available 3Dfx card for this game, which would be a Voodoo 5500. Graphics quality as well as overall game speed should be much better with a V5500. Use your Voodoo3 for older games that fit in the Voodoo3 era!

btw: nice case! Did you do all the airbrush work yourself?

Yeah, a V5 5500 would make sense. WoW looks perfect with newer SFFT's and you can enable 4xRGSSAA without a performance impact with this CPU. But here's also the problem: I don't think a 500 MHz cpu can handle WoW ...

Via 3dfx tools or V.Control. :) But only VSA-based cards can handle that (Voodoo4 4500 and above).

Thx, this Tower is made by Energy for the Special StarTrek Members, but nobody got it !
Now I found it at www.ebay.de and buy it for less money, Its a unicum :-)

I changed the Processor to a "Pentium III 500" / Slot 1, a Pentium II 400 (256MB R...) can handle WoW without Problems @ 30 fps with a Nvidia Geforce2MX!

Thx for your replies, I will buy now a Voodoo 5500 @ www.ebay.de ...
