This is a very nice card to have the layout gives it a special look as well the card works fine in 2D and 3D FSAA x2 and FSAA x4 also no problems.

yeah sure is :) I bought this one from Osckhar :) he sent it last week Tuesday and it arrived last Monday :) man I was thrilled When a Red TPG Dutch Postman hit the doorbell :D and it's pretty small for a Voodoo5 as well, I am wondering if there is also an AGP x2 model of this unique card, any ideas Nighbird?

Imho, i would say no.
I know this one and the 5000 Pci, that's all.

edit :
And this card, though keyed like an Agp 4x (1.5 v), runs like an Agp 2x/1x (3.3 v).

ah okay well the PCB is Rev.A0 so yeah would be logic hehe, was AGP x4 a future plan for this card and the Voodoo5 5500 AGP x4?

Since the cards do have an AGP x4 connector, maybe 3dfx had ideas for that feature or was it because of the 3dfx SLI didn't support AGP x4 and 1.5 volts yet?

So now I'm trying to find out what driver would be best for this card under Windows 2000 Pro.

The drivers that don't work are the following:

Original drivers that failed:
3dfx Voodoo4/5 V1.04.00

3rd Party Drivers that failed:
AmigaMerlin 3.0XP Final
SFFT Alpha 33 no support

As for x-3dfx 1.08.04b + Amiga Merlin 3.1 R11 combined as one driver I have a succes! in 2D so I'm very well on the way My friends!

The Card boots perfectly in 16, 256 Bit, 26 Bit as 32 Bit  colours to the windows desktop and the cards also boots perfectly with Bios 1.15.

So here my results for so far :)

at first I had this error many times :-X lol

and after removing that driver everything was back to normal, so if AmigaMerlin 3.1 R11 does work with some people under XP and X3dfx with some people under 98SE :) I came up with an idea that might be a sollution to all of us Voodoo5 5000 AGP and PCI users :)

At first I installed x-3dfx Voodoo4/5 1.08.014 beta I did get that error but I ignored it and rebooted after reboot I installed the AMigaMerlin 3.1 R11 driver installed the Voodoo5 5000 AGP x4 as "AMIGAMERLIN 3.1 R11 For Napalm " and rebooted and this is what happened, abosultely remarkeble it works in a combined state lads YeaH! ;D ;D ;D ;D

here the Voodoo5 5000 AGP x4 installed as Napalm on the EIZO T662 20" CRT :)

and here the FSAA x4 setting.

here the correct 1024 x 768 size:

and as you can all see the combination of both drivers is clearly visable!

As far as now 3D is not working in Windows 2000 Pro + SP4, 2D is working like a charm, though the OpenGL screensavers from Win2K Pro are working and they are 3D, which is odd.

Anyways I think Windows 98SE is the prefered OS for the Voodoo5 5000's the card is just very Beta and I just can't get 3D to work in Win2K Pro+ SP4 and XP Pro +SP2 but 98SE has no problems at all, as do all other Voodoo5 5000 AGP and PCI cards.

If anyone does have an idea for my Voodoo5 5000 AGP x4 to work under 2K Pro Please let me know.

Update manually the inf. (that's only a .txt) with the correct SubSystem Vendor ID (that's written on the error message) before installing the V5 5000.

hmm I see So this should be it then :)

"AMIGAMERLIN 3.1-R11 For Voodoo 5 5000 AGP" = 3dfxvsv5,PCI\VEN_121A&DEV_0009&SUBSYS_0006121A&REV01                                 AGP    SG   166   NOTV  NOLCD (AGP V5 5000)

I took a rerun through the whole inf file and I finally Understood the idea :) Oh well I will let you know if this will work thanx for your help so far Nightbird [:I]

Well I caould install the card without problems this time no errors and so on but still that  black screen after reboot.

So Iguess my Voodoo5 5000 AGP isn't stable in one such way oh well it would of been nice to see it work.

Back to the Voodoo5 5500 and 6000 for my 3dfx fun, that 5000 AGP is still a nice card to have though, they are hard to obtain so it's nice for the display then :)

Thanx for you help Nightbird, I appriciated that and May The Force Be With You Always ;)

Well there is good news afterall :)

UPDATE everyone!!!

Man there is finally some light at the end of the tunnel :)
Now I have the Voodoo5 5000 AGP x4 in another system with  an ASUS A7V333-R Rev.1.04 mobo I used Amigamerlin3.1 R11 as the driver and KoolSmokey's Voodoo Control for the tools :) I have added this line in the .inf file in the AM 3.1 R11 driver path like you told me Nightbird [:o)]

AMIGAMERLIN 3.1-R11 For Voodoo 5 5000 AGP" = 3dfxvsv5,PCI\VEN_121A&DEV_0009&SUBSYS_0006121A&REV01 AGP SG 166 NOTV NOLCD (AGP V5 5000)

and there by installed the Voodoo5 5000 AGP x4 manually and by installing it as AMIGAMERLIN 3.1-R11 For Voodoo 5 5000 AGP !!! and yes that worked with errors this time! Thanx Nightbird ;)

The after reboot no funny black screen and after that I started up V.Control from Kool Smokey and the card runs default @ 166Mhz like all other 5500 and 6000 cards normally would, except some Intel A0,A1 and HiNT A3 cards but hey it's working, which counts [:I]

So Thandor gave me  the idea to try this on the my other AthlonXP system and I had the idea to use the 5000 AGP x4 in Single chip mode :D and yes I got the 3dfx Donut working!! This is great under XP Pro + SP2 but in Dual chip mode no 3D Acceleration but just a black screen so that means this is the card with the broken SLI and yes this card was once from BOingball he told me that he had this card so he was right about the whole broken SLI thing afterall :)

So here some screenshots , they seem somewhat dark but ingame it's much lighter :)

Here the famous Menu of Unreal looks nice :)

here the full size 1024 x 768 x16 one:

and here an ingame shot Level 2 :)

here the full size 1024 x 768 x16 one:

Anyways after all this work I never had the idea I would get it working in XP heh oh well now to find out how and if it can be repaired for SLI finction if there are people that may know how to find this out or are willing to repair it if there is a way, I'm not sure if a Broken SLI can BE repaired in the first place , but then again I am willing to hear you all out.

Quoteand yes that worked with errors this time!
without errors, would be better ;)

edit :
Under Win2k, no (official) 3dfx driver (1.03.00) will work.
Under Win9x, no chance with the 3dfx driver 1.04.00 ; maybe easier with the 1.04.01 beta

Yes I totally Agree with you :) without problems would be perfect and in the other system everything is working fantastic!!

First I installed 98SE on my Other AthlonXP system and I used the latest 3dfx WHQL driver and 2D is like a miracle :)

CTX 1569 on 3dfx Voodoo5 5000 AGP  in 98SE :D

So both VSA-100's do run at 166mhz I really never knew that I had like 143Mhz in mind like that the 5000 would of been the budget model of the Voodoo5  familly.

But thanx for your tip I will keep that in mind, now Gary did say that this great card will work with the latest original WHQL driver from 3dfx Interactive so that is what I've done.

here my Voodoo5 5000 AGP x4 rig:

AMD AthlonXP Barton 2600+
ASUS A7V333-R Rev.1.04  VIA KT-333 chipset Bios 1017
1x 512MB Kingston Value Ram PC-3200 @ PC-2700
3dfx Voodoo5 5000 AGP x4 32MB Rev.A0 3700 with 6ns Samsung SGRAM
1x Seagate Barracuda III 30GB 7200 rpm

Win98SE + UnOfficial Service Pack 2.03 NL
3dfx 1.08.0.14 WHQL Drivers

Installing 98SE went like lightning hehe the last time I installed it was on an old PentiumII MMX 350 hehe so finally with new that setup the card works the way it should do :)

With Windows 98SE NL + Unofficial Service Pack 2.03 [2.1a dutch version] and Official 3dfx Ver 1.08.0.14 WHQL Final for Voodoo4/5 and the card runs like a Harvester over a Cornfield !!!! Yiiiii haaaa!!! Just another Classic 3dfx Moment !

Here the pics in Unreal ver 2.26 in 3dfx Glide @ 1024 x 768 x16 with FSAA x4 :) The FSAA isn't that visible because of the BMP to JPEG Converter I used in Windows Imaging.

Here the Intro Screen man that's something good from our good ole times everyone :P

Hi Kenobi, i see you having fun with this intersting toy:)

Congrats!;)

Nightbird

A note :
The AGP connector is not compliant with AGP 4x specifications.
The card can't work on the last mobos (4x, 8x -> 1.5 v), it will run only on a mobo supporting Agp 1x, 2x ; 3.3 v.

@ Nightbird

Yes I did know that hehe but otherwise the card would fry, the same pupose goes for thet Voodoo5 5500 AGP x4 cards.
But thanx for all your help Nightbird ;)

@ Goriath

Yeah it was alot of hours to get it working in the right system and right setup but eventually I got there thanx to all the people that helped me pull this one through :)

The card is amazing actually with 2x VSA-100 like the Voodoo5 5500 but only 16MB per VSA, it lacks exactly half the memory of the 5500'per VSA, which in some cases it's even slower than a voodoo4 4500 in single chip mode. but in Dual chip the card performs considerably well even with FSAA x4 mode enabled @ 1024 x 768 x16 in Glide with Unreal Tournament Game Of The Year Edition 1999.

- Nightbird:

Thanks, of course, for the right reply.

The compliance with AGP 4x specs is related to the form factor of this AGP connector and not to the electronic features too.

May be the news text was not clear; I'm sorry for this.
