Why there is no NEW Voodoo3 D3D driver in AM 3.0 finals. This is just a mix of 3dfx & 3dhq drivers.OpenGL/Glide part forks fine already with AM V4/5 driver, and these drivers are just the same for Voodoo3.

I don't wanna insult anyone, I appreciate your work, and I know you do it for FREE!
But in this release there's no VIDEO OVERLAY for Voodoo3; 'Cause no new drivers! So i just use 3dfxvs.dll 5.01.2600.0001 from AM Voodoo4/5 and then there no difference It's like i'm use Voodoo4/5 drivers! No D3D support at all!

So I just wanna know is this your 'final' word for Voodoo3 users or you gonna release rather new driver??

Hi,

what you mean with saying that these drivers do not have VIDEO OVERLAY? These drivers working with the Voodoo3 series, also with the Voodoo3 3500TV, that MUST have the VIDEO OVERLAY to see the TV on your desktop and for video capture utility.

The new Amigamerlin's D3D section have lost the compatibility with the Voodoo3 and to make to work correctly the new OpenGL section I have chosen the 3dhq's system file with the original 3dfx D3D section.

D3D section remains however of good level to consider that the Voodoo3 is much devoid of feature hardware implemented

Bye bye :)

Before his fall 3dfx has fully developed drivers for Voodoo3 based cards. This fact allows to use "old" files with good results that's to say bringing hardware to limits.

When you have ideas, suggestions and/or others post these here.

PS: are you italian? :)

Bye bye

to aporte: no Video Overlay in 3dfx Tools "COLOR" section for Voodoo3 DOESN'T work! :) This thing makes perfect video reproduction of video material like MPEG,AVI,DivX... :) and this option works fine AM 3.0 for VSA family.

to Glide: 1st idea is to implement Video Overlay for Voodoo3 :)
2nd to make GTA III somehow to work...I mean if TNT1 with 16MB of ram can run the game, at some point Voodoo3 can work.I know that TNT have texture compression but, Voodoo3 use only 256x256 textures so it saves a lot of memory.

P.S.
thanks for asking :)
I lived in Istra, if you know where it is, they talk half Italian half Istrian.

Adios

I do not understand. The Divx, MPEG, AVI, you see them? I see them, for regulating brightness, contrast and others settings I use the tools of the multimedia player (Windows Media Player, PowerDVD and others) and it work right!

For GTAIII: also I believe that it can run on V3, it run on Voodoo3 + Intel Processor + 1.04WHQL drivers and the problem is with AMD processor. It work, but which to speed? :D

I don't know where is the problem with AMD processor, but GTAIII is very hard to work also with the modern video cards, think with a Voodoo3..... ;)

The deficiency of the texture compression is however a serious handicap, unfortunately and can cause infinites cycles of block with hard games like GTAIII

As you can think, GTA3 programmers have optimized the game for nVIDIA and ATI cards. Then you must remember that GTA 3 is a (bad...) conversion from console platform: this type of software adds still others compatibilty bugs and always requires much power of central processing unit for nice running. All these make hard playing with Voodoo3 even though V3 hardware is not inferior to TNT hardware.

Also, i realize that you are using Windows XP so try this patch Q306676_WXP_SP1_x86 or install Win XP SP1.

When you have Video Overlay enabled in 3dfx Tools, and then not, it's like runing game in harware then  in software, you can steel adjust brightness but there's a huge difference ;)

If you have Voodoo3 and Win2k/XP instal AM 3.0 for V4/5 with 3dfx Tools and you WILL see a huge difference. Then try from 3dfx Tools adjust Colors/Brightness/Contrast. [8D]

Yes i know that GTA3 is worst conversion from console. But it must to be a way to eliminate this bug between AMD cpu's & Voodoo3 in GTA3 [8D]
Don't get me wrong, but AM team is the only one who actually make drivers/clean bugs...and I'm glad for that.

Yes I'm using WinXP Pro SP1 with Dx 8.2

I have made the AmigaSport 3.0 drivers and tested with my Voodoo3 3500TV.

I have understood to that problem you refer, but at the moment does not exist solution, also for GTAIII that I would want to see to run on my Voodoo3 [:(]

Amigamerlin 3.0 has lost the compatibility with the Voodoo3 and I have had to find any alternative solution to being able to use the new glide and opengl

If you think to having a solution for these problems and you can give one hand to improve drivers compatibility and performance
you are welcome! :)

Thanks for your signalling! :)

For Voodoo3 Video Overlay in XP driver, ther's a solution, just import gamma settings into 3dfxvs.dll for Voodoo3 just like it's done in Voodoo4/5 driver :) It's a simple solution...

Ok, makes it and all we will be very happy to run your driver JOE3000-XP for Voodoo3! :)

JOE3000

Don't go mad...damnit.I just wanna best for all V3 users.I'm a not a programmer, same thing I can say about you now...AmigaSport don't include any new drivers except Glide:

win2k,xp Display Driver:  5.00.2195.0232 - 3dfx
win2k,xp Miniport:        5.01.00.2604     - 3dhq
Glide(tm) 3.X Driver:     3.10.00.30303  - glide.sourceforge.net
Glide(tm) 2.X Driver:     1.0.1.106      - Colourless
OpenGL(r) Driver Version: 1.0.0.0761 ICD - 3dfx

So if you cannot make any progress, I allready said how Voodoo3 users can have Video Overlay and Glide/OpenGL to work, just copy 3dfxvs.dll from AM 3.0 for V4/5 :)
