now that was the question..

should i use win98 se for gaming with v3? cause i have a P3 450MHZ 512mb sdram and a v3 but i feal that im not getting the performance i want.. ive seen old reviews of unreal tourney doing 50-60 fps on a p2 350 (guru3d) and now using the amiga sports in xp i get 20-30 fps

so in other words should i put win98 to better performance or is it the drivers is it the os ? huh?

thankx once again for yer time.

ps: now my install is win xp sp2, drivers, and games thats all no other programs by the way winxp performes very well with this config. in the gui area. not the gaming

The best drivers for Voodoo cards were written for the Win9x OS. All the old Glide games were written for Win9x also. If you have an old PIII system that you are using as a Glide machine I would install Win98se, that's what I did on my Glide system.

-Glide System-
Asus P3B-F Intel 440BX chipset
Intel PIII 650
128 Mb PC100 Corsair SDRAM
30 Gb Maxtor DiamondMax 7200 RPM HD
Mitsumi 48X CD-ROM
Windows 98se
Diamond Viper 770 Ultra 32Mb AGP
Diamond Monster 3D II 24Mb SLI
Sound Blaster AWE 64 Gold
MS SideWinder Precision Pro Joystick
US Robotics 56K V.90 Fax/Modem w/voice
KTI KF-230TX 10/100 NIC

ArchAngelCD, thanks..ill try that now but should i use the legacy drivers or the new ones like the amigasport?

have u had problems with dx9 in winsux 98?

ps: thats a nice glide config u have there ... that was the bomb back in dx6.1 days!

I 3DFX LIKE.

ps47

with that pc,your bet choice is win98se+the latest original 3dfx driver 1.07.00 for win9x.I run my voodoo3 machines this way,it will get you the best performance&compatibility.old pc with 3dfx cards dont mix good with xp..

The legacy drivers shouldn't be a problem since most, if not all true "GLIDE" weren't written for anything over DX7. There is no need for DX9 on a legasy Glide system running Win98se.

YES, that Glide system was the bomb back in the day. I still say that was the most stable system I ever used. Too bad things change so fast but then again, the graphics on the new games are great too.
