We all know, that a standardvoodoo is clockable between 175-185 MHz. But what's da Record for V5 Clocks? 200MHz? 210MHz?

Anyone knows it?

Voodoo5

I have 5 (3agp & 2 pci) 5500's in total. I have one (agp with hyundai memory) that will go to 200 mhz with aftermarket cooling, but I run it at 195 mhz to be safe, this is a really high overclock for a VSA-100 chip ;)

The other 2 agp cards (stock cooling & hyundai memory) would start to show visual artifacts at 186 mhz, the pci models (toshiba memory) at 180 mhz.

If your serious about overclocking your card use this utility: https://www.3dfxzone.it/news/reader.php?objid=261 and only go up a few mhz at a time watching for visual artifacts.

Hope this helps

the best overclock was done on a PCI daytona card (voodoo4 4200),270MHz.

Thats incredible if true, how could the stock memory (let alone the gpu) have gone that high as the memory and gpu are sycronized on VSA-100 cards, liquid cooling ?

It's a Daytona card (VSA-101), not a Napalm (VSA-100).
Daytona was produced in a smaller size (18 microns instead of Napalms 25 microns) allowing it to be clocked higher.

Rolo01 clocked his Daytona to 180MHz for some tests; no fan or heatsink!

Also, the Daytona cards use DDR memory.

on my voodoo 5500 pci 6ns memory hyudai i think? the most common one, i hit 195 stable. Thats with athlon 64 heatsinks on each core and ramsinks on the ram. Thats how i hit 3015 in 3dmark01 with it

What would be the worth of a Voodoo5 5500 PCI Daytona (VSA101 Chips), which makes ~240MHz with stockcooling?

NitroX infinity

What a fool pays for it.
Such a card doesn't exist however so it would be pure speculation.

NitroX infinity

No, 3dfx only had several Daytona cards made which were all single-chip cards (including the IBM versions).

But I know 1 guy who had an V5 5500 with Daytona chips. This card was able to run 200MHz without fans...

NitroX infinity

Did he 'tell' you he had Daytona chips or did he actually prove it?
And a late model V5 5500 Napalm with the right memory could run on 200MHz, just doubt it would last long without fans.

I can run at 200mhz, but it crashs within a few minutes in 3dmark01. Im sure with fans on the athlon 64 heatsinks and a fan blowing on the ramsinks on the back it would work

He wasn't sure, but he was able to cool his Card with 2 40x40mm passive Heatsinks @ 200MHz.

The description of the Chip says:
