Hi everybody,

Got the following : an old compaq deskpro pc boosted up with 2 creative labs voodoo 2 (8 or 12 mb, how do u tell ? They are ct6670 as i believe) cards in sli. Checked the forums out there (praise the lord for that) and installed fastvoodoo2 1.0 and they are detected in sli mode (so it says on the detect settings page). (had to cut up a ide cable to connect them inside the pc but hey they are detected so i did good, no ?) Now i got the following system : Compaq deskpro pentium pro ~200 Mhz, 256 MB ram, Matrox millenium 2 MB VGA card, 2 creative labs voodoo 2 cards (8 or 12 mb ???) in sli mode. Normally i startup in win98SE in 1024*786 in 16 bit mode (it can handle 32 bits with screensize 800*600 but i like it smaller). When i go to the voodoo 2 settings menu i can adjust settings, can u guys help me out here ? It says i can overclock from about 93 what is normal to 103 Clock speed. What does that mean ? What does the refresh rate mean ? How do u know if they really work together ? Are they working together ? What screensize and clock speed and refresh rate would be my ideal settings to play for example quake 1 or duke3d. (that were the games i used to play before i had to go to work everyday and please my woman in the evening. Now sometimes i just wanna game hours long and she better shuts up about it) What games (doom-clones) or other games could run very nicely on this machine with astonishing graphics ? Pleaze help me out here guys, i count on u... Greetz from an old-school gamer back to his roots...

ok. first of all, install the fastvoodoo 4.6 for win 98..much better!

you can't use the hardware acceleration to play quake 1 and duke 3d but you can for example play to half life 2, quake 3, soldier of fortune also the 2 maybe?) turok, unreal, unreal tournament and serious sam 1 e 2!
Powered by ALL Voodoo..

Ok gonna try to install it tonight.
let u know how things work out...

Quake 1 will go accelerated when you'll get GlQuake port - try googling. Duke3D won't rather go though although there was some OpenGL port in the past running along but known to be troublesome. SLI works if you can get 1024x768 mode working - so don't bother. Refresh rate can be set all the way up your monitor can handle with the particular resolution, for typical 15 inch displays 75Hz is the safe choice; you can set it up either with V2 tweakers or with the regs set in Fastvoodoo folder. You may turn off vsync if you don't care about screen tearing. When speaking about overclocking your V2s, you won't gain much a speed boost on such a machine without a risk of overheating the voodoos. And, Serious Sam 1&2 may be a hard task for a ppro 200 and so would be SOF2, but feel free to give 'em a try. There were also Shogo: MAD, Blood 2, KISS: Psycho-circus, Requiem: Avenging Angel (D3D), Hexen2, Kingpin, SiN(OpenGL) andTurok2: Seeds of Evil (Glide), looking&running good on V2 in the past. Ok guys, I have to be honest, I messed things up. My first home-made SLI cable made from an IDE cable was ****. It didn't work properly but alsways got detected in the voodoo settings-sheet. It had a ribbon clipped and couldn't work like it should.  That was the first problem avercame. So i made a new SLI cable from a floppy disk cable (took me 2 hours) then tried quake and saw an incredible difference in smoothness (800*600). I swear, it was like I was flying trough the rooms, so fast (or have I been up too late ??) Now I can play also on 1024*768 (and even the one higher resolution) but that goes slow. Something must still be wrong... But hey, this time i got them both working, no ? (they are in non-adjacant pci bus drives so no extra cooling needed i believe?)
PS look at me mum, just 2 weeks of voodoo2 and i'm already starting to talk like these guys...
My monitor refresh rates can go up to 120 Hfor up to 800*600 and beyond it is limited to 85 Hz It's detacted as a plug and play monitor.

you know, those voodoo SLI cables have a little crossed over bit..
Thanks,

If you play in 1024*768, so the sli is working.
About your monitor, you can try to find the correct inf. (see the manufacturer) or stay sticky with the plug and play inf. (by default).
