yeah she's a beauty allrighty, I had the idea of it has 4 engines like the A380 does [:P] So why not test FlightSimulators on it haha :) Anyways Always happy to test it in other applications than Flight Sim's too, I wonder if there any nice CAD programs to use a V6K in , that might be a nice idea to test as well.

So here it is finally installed with a 5500 AGP though, I rather check if that works out first before installing a 6K and no problems at all.

Don't worry everyone the EPoX EP-8K5A2+ is a 200% safe Voodoo 5 6000 AGP board :)

So far so good, tomorrow the Voodoo 5 6000 will take place for it's first test flights for the year 2K6 abit late, oh well better late than never ;)

But he tried first with a 5500 AGP, so 4xAA is maximum.

Well here it is with the Voodoo 5 6000 AGP 128MB Rev.A 3700, I have been running it all day with no hessitations what ever so that's the heads up my 3dfx friends 8)
as you can see the FSAA x2, 4 and 8 settings are sellectable now :)

Now for some game testing I ran Unreal Tournament @ 1600 x 1200 x16 in Glide with no FSAA, FSAA x2 and even it was playable @ a staggering setting of FSAA x4! I was like Crikey!!! Far Out! okay the avrarage speed was around the 33 Frames per Second, but still impressive for such an old piece of equipment which never reached the retail market, I was very impressed by it's insane amount of 3D rendering power, espeacially for it's time.

More screen shots of that later tonight, now that's the maximal settings and capabillities of a 6000 ;)

Unreal Tournament Game Of The Year Edition 1999 @ Reso 1024 x 768 x16 in 3dfx Glide API:

Those are nice, Obi. 8xAA IS impressive. Too bad 3dfx never mass-produced the V5-6000.

I just wonder whether it worked with DOS GLide games, though.

Obi-Wan Kenobi

hmm it would of worked with some DOS games for sure, since most Glide games work on it as far as I know of :)

How about trying the following variables?

SSTH3_SLI_AA_CONFIGURATION
OS: all
HW: VSA100-based cards
Desc: SLI/AA setup
Note: (*) (!) works only at Glide-level?
Value:
   1, 2, 4 chip cards
"0" - SLI & AA disable
"1" - SLI disabled, 2 sample AA enabled
   2, 4 chip cards
"2" - 2-way SLI enabled, AA disabled
"3" - 2-way SLI enabled, 2 sample AA enabled
"4" - SLI disabled, 4 sample AA enabled
   4 chip cards
"5" - 4-way SLI enabled, AA disabled
"6" - 4-way SLI enabled, 2 sample AA enabled
"7" - 2-way SLI enabled, 4 sample AA enabled
"8" - SLI disabled, 8 sample AA enabled

Those are environment variables to set FSAA (thanks, Daniel!). Thus, theoritically, we can enable FSAA in DOS games through environment variables.

Alas, I haven't got the chance to try them out myself, since my GLide DOS games, EF2000 V2.0, fails to run with Voodoo5. It is not related to FSAA, though. It seems to be compatibility problem. See, EF2000 V2.0 does not use glide2x.ovl; instead, the glide is hard-coded into the game's engine. It seems that EF2000 V2.0 is a "Voodoo1-only" game. :(

Except, of course, if there's a way to make our Voodoo5 card to "appear" like Voodoo1. Perhaps running it on single-chip mode? Perhaps reducing the TMU size to match the Voodoo1? Alas, I haven't found the right environment variables to do that.

But if you have "later" DOS GLide games (like Archimedean Dynasty, that IIRC uses glide2x.ovl, who knows you can enable 8x FSAA for DOS GLide games! :)

Obi-Wan Kenobi

hmm have you tried to run it in Single chip mode?, maybe it's the SLI which is in the way.
You could try and run it under XP and run it as a MS dos program should work in most cases otherwise there is also DOSBoX :)
