Dr Teatime

Hi folks, I'm new to the forum, thanks for having me, and thanks very much to the hosts who set this website up.
Over the past year, I've been slowly gathering pieces to put a system together for Glide games and it is finally up and running!

Running an Aopen AX6BC M board, P3 500 slot 1 proc, 256 megs of ram,
and an 80G WD 7200 Hard Drive.  Video is Voodoo 5500 AGP.  Using a 50 buck Enlight case with the stock 300 watt ps.  Cheapie Chaintech sound card,  Logitech Formula wheel :)  Win 98 SE

Right now I've been playing NFS Porsche Unleashed, Unreal Gold, and NFS High Stakes, which I just now got the Glide enabled on...had to do a regedit.    Also managed to get an old favorite of mine, Tanks! Wargame Construction Set II running with sound!

Now checking ebay for more Glide games---lots still available that I've never tried,  got NFS II SE and NFS 3 Hot Pursuit on the way, then I've got my eye on Heavy Gear II which I've never seen.

Thanks for taking the time to read my post, y'all are the only ones who would understand why I'm having so much fun with this!  :)

Welcome! :)
Ya, I know what you're talking about – we all know, indeed. Glide games still rock. And they all deserve to be played on a real Voodoo(-PC)! No Direct3D-API or emulator can catch the spirit.

Dr Teatime, welcome here.

You can enjoy with your Voodoo5 5500: it's best card for GLide games.
If you need help or some suggestions, just write some words.

Any your post will be very appreciated.

Bye bye

The V5 5500 is the best affordable card for glide games. But the best/ultimate graphics card is the Voodoo5 6000. :)

Thanks guys!

Mine is a "low-rent" system so no V 6000.  :)
They sure are some impressive buggers though!
I'm very pleased all the parts I picked up all worked.
I did forget to put the extra power plug onto the V5 at
first boot-up.  It just sat there and beeped at me, then
I remembered to put the four prong plug in the V5--'doh  :)
