How do I maximize D3D performance?

I'm using wickedGL drivers for opengl games, they give me a huge performance boost at almost no visual quality loss.

I'm wondering if there is something similar for direct3d ?

-----Wanna play max payne, but it only works in D3D and large places are killing my fps :(

I played MAX Payne1 before many years, and it work with default drivers good [with one v2 12mb] only few bugs, if i found the disc, i ill try today to play with sli
