And now the shocker:

maybe it's due to higher FSB and higher V5 Core Frequency in the AMD system...
but AMD Athlon is better than P4 in gaming, even a duron (i mean new Duron based on Applebred) can perform as good as P4..
No way a 3DFX collector...just a 3DFX die Hard Player~~

let the VooDoo Roars!!

P4 Extreme Edition 3.4GHz
Asus P5AD2 Deluxe i925x
2GB DDR2 667 DDRRAM
Voodoo 5 5500PCI

I doubt that since the P4 runs about half a gigaherz faster than the Duron.

AMD CPU's are better because they have a higher FPU.
Because Voodoo's don't support HW T&L or AGP Texturing, this has to be done by the CPU. The higher the FPU, the better the performance.

(90% sure of this though)

That's my thought too ;)

baskapteijn,
Shouldn't that be 384Mb SDRAM?

But, It's not the main clocked speed that makes the speed of a CPU.

The FSB, L1, and L2 cach help determin the speed and performance of a CPU.

Intels solutions to the AMD x2, and 64, are the Pentium D, and Extreme edition. Yet, AMD still has higher marks.Hell, even the Sempron 800mhz FSB almost operates as fast as a P4 2.8 ghz.

your all missing the importantthing AMD procs have RISC technollogy therefore they do more with less, a 2.4Ghz A64 can beat a 3.4Ghz P4 HT with ease in most apps, just because of the RISC technology and indeed higher FPU,that is because of the RISC technology the AMD proc's have.

P4 long been replaced and AMD is no longer the King. Anybody bench 5500 PCI in modern systems? [:p]

Theres no way a 1400 duron will even come close to a 2.4 P4..The L1 & L2 limits on a duron are pretty big without massive overclocking and i really dont think a big OC can compensate for Cache that much.An Athlon XP is all i would sub a P4 with and yes they are better chips.
