Hi!

system info:
motherboard: QDI KuDoz 7E / 333X-6A
processor: AMD Athlon 2500+
memory: 512mb DDR Ram
sound: onboard sound (RealTek '97)
primary grahpics card: Nvidia Gforce MX 440 8xAGP
opperating system: Windows XP Pro

I am trying to create a multiple monitor system using my Nvidia Gforce MX 440 8xAGP (agp, obviously) and my old VooDoo 3 pci card. Both cards are instered properly in their respectable slots & both cards are opperational. Same goes for the monitors.

when I bootup my computer the monitor connected to the Voodoo card dispays the memory test, IDE detection and so on. All works properly untill it is supposed to display the bootscreen of Windows XP Pro. Then both monitors turn blank and stay that way. It seems that they do not receive any input. When trying to boot in the Safe Mode of Windows XP Pro the monitor connected to the VooDoo card displays a blinking DOS 'cursor' indefinitatly.

According to Microsoft's Knowledgebase VooDoo (3) is no longer supported and all was taken over by Nvidia. Knowledgebase reference number #309913. I've searched the Nvidia site but I could not find a suitable driver that would allow me to run both my Nvidia Gforce and my VooDoo 3 at the same time thus giving me a multiple monitor system.

I would very much appreciate if anyone could tell me if what I want is at all possible and if so how I may achieve my desired configuration.

thank you very much for your time and I hope you can help me.

1.5 things to try...

1st:  Try changing your Primary Video in the BIOS to PCI and see if it boots up.

2nd: Well actually the .5 part:  Be sure to give it time to boot up. the first time I installed it it took almost 2 minutes for Windows XP to sort through its settings and finally decide to boot up. Remember... Patience is a virtue!

this setup should work,I had something very similar up and running with no problems (duron1600/geforce4 mx440/voodoo3 pci),and I have tried to use a voodoo4 pci in my new system (athlonxp3000/radeon9800p),and it worked fine as well..you may need to make a clean install of winxp[xx(]

btw, microsoft knowledge base? hahahahhaha:D,they cant even make a serious OS,why should they know something about voodoo3?

works great in XP ONLY if you run a new driver for the V3.  the one great thing about voodoos is that we now HAVE great XP support via our voodoo family here on the web.  also there are VERY FEW pci cards out there that are as good and cheap as the V3 that even HAVE driver support for XP.  make sure your primary is set up in your bios as the AGP card  and you will absolutly need to download one of the great drivers from this or some other voodoo site that are XP compatable to get it to work.  I am running a V5 PCI as my secondary card here at work.  getting XP to stop overwriting your new "unsigned by microsoft" drivers is the key as XP has a kind of file protection turned on to keep malicious software from overwriting drivers and such..
