Hmm, I tried some OCing but it appears I have that problem where it OCs only one core

I tried first the 3dfx overclocking tab in 3dfx Tools. Max stable I got was 180MHz up from 166. So it's almost a 10% increase, but in 3DMark 2000 I only get a 2% increase in points.

I then tried V.Control, same result. Then I found out that V.Control only OCs one core so I got the VSA100-Overclocker and followed the directions, putting all the files in the V.Control directory, then launched the VSA100 Overclocker and set to 180MHz and re-ran 3DMark, same result, only 2% increase over stock speed of 166MHz.

Hello, what can I use to OC a Voodoo5 5500 AGP under Windows 98SE?

The ones listed on this website are listed for only Win 2000 and XP.

I read of people using Powerstrip but that appears to be paid? And can't find an older version.

I also heard that OCing a 5500 will only OC one core, is that true? Is there a way to OC both cores?

Found the reason.

From Blood FAQ on their website:
If you have One Whole Unit, you will not be able to use the 3DFX patch for Blood. Nowhere on the box does it say that One Whole Unit can be used with a 3DFX card. The 3DFX.EXE patch is for the 1.0 version of Blood only, not the 1.21 version of One Whole Unit. Please do not try and install the patch as you will only mess up your game.

Hello, I recently got the first Blood. Works well under software or whatever it is using as default. Since I got a 3dfx card I figured I'd use the 3dfx patch. Sadly it doesn't work. It crashes my computer with a black screen before it manages to get to the game menu and I have to hard restart.

Is it possible to play on the 5500 with 3dfx?

Hi, sorry this is kind of a double post as I basically made a "PS" about this in my Manhunt thread, but I figure making a thread about it will get it more exposure. It's affecting all games.

With all drivers (reference latest and beta, Evolution, x3dfx) when I turn on AA for games, I get glitches in the picture.

For example. Turning 2x AA in UT99 and Hitman causes the font to mess up. There will be a sort of underscore under some letters, and not on others, and font will be glitched in other ways I can't explain.

In Homeworld the entire menu messes up. Some colors change (background is no longer black/blue, but whiteish gray). And text is almost unreadable.

If I turn 4x AA, in UT the entire picture becomes blurry. As if a 3D affect is on and it's trying to combine two pictures or something. Hurts my eyes, very hard to read stuff.

I could have sworn this was not a problem before I started experimenting with third party drivers. I tried uninstalling all drivers and reinstalling but to no avail.

Please help. I have many games installed and reinstalling Windows is not an option!

The bluriness and maybe text issue is because of "jitter"? I remember this option was added to 3dfx tools when I installed Evolution driver. But this also affects Direct3D games,and I've since uninstalled Evolution anyway.. what is going on

Hello, for some reason Manhunt will not run on the official drivers from 3dfx, both the beta and latest final. The error I get when trying to launch is page fault.

But it does work if I use non-3dfx drivers like Evolution, x3dfx, etc. But I don't trust those and am happy with the performance of official drivers.

Is there a solution?

Also there's another problem. With all drivers, if I turn on AA on Glide games (UT99 and Homeworld is what I used to test), there's some bugs. In UT, the font is messed up. I don't know how to explain, and in Homeworld the entire menu is funky. Both are fine if I turn off AA.

Another weird thing with AA is if I use Evolution's driver, there's some sort of distortion in UT of the screen, like a 3D effect when you don't use glasses, but it's in normal colors. It's very blurry looking. Updating the glide library fixes that, but then I get the font issue above. I could have sworn it worked fine with AA before I started messing with all the drivers..

I don't have much history but when I was a teenager, me and a friend were really into games (but somehow I don't think we knew what savegame was hehehe, because my memories only give me that we start games from the same level each time (I remember we played NOLF on the sniper level many times, but not because it was so fun).

I don't even know what graphics card I had, but he had Voodoo 3 and his games all ran really great.

Remember played NFS Porche, he had the MS Sidewinder steering wheel

That's too bad. Was AF not a standard feature then?

Is there a way? I'm looking at the settings in the 3dfx tools and there's no mention of AF :s

By the way, are you running official drivers? Never heard of farst. Get the official drives, that's probably why it won't work. Most likely it's trying to detect the 3dfx drivers and can't find them, so it reports you don't have the cards

Sorry I can't help, but I'm also having trouble with Carmageddon 1 and V5500.

The menu mouse becomes very slow, there's no sound, and I don't think I can even get to the game itself. Regular Carma exe works just fine Was really looking forward to playing Carma 1 with Glide

I read that Thief is a Glide game, but there's no 3dfx logo (I have a 5500) on startup and when forcing AA in 3dfx tools, it only works if I set it in the Direct3D category. So the game is working in D3D.

How can I get it to play in Glide?
