OK, I'm just really confused. I have a Soyo 7vba133u motherboard that is AGP4x capable, I'm currently running a GeForce2 MX400 64MB AGP(although it's being reported as a 32MB) and I'm looking to upgrade to a better graphics card. The problem I'm having is that there are so many choices of cards. I really don't know what one to choose. Could any of you guys give me some suggestions as to what card to get and that my mobo can handle?

I don't want to go to expensive as it is a cheap system, but I plan on giving it to my son and build my own from scratch, so lets say anywhere from $150-$250. Brand name is not an issue.

Cheers
Goli

At your highest price you can get a Geforce 6800LE for around $250(and for a little more you could get a normal 6800)..if you want cheaper I could name some more. But if you are building a new system thats a good idea, otherwise your Celeron will be a bottleneck..

While they arn't bad cards, for only a little more you can get a 9800Pro which would perform a lot better then the 9600xt. You can also softmod a 9800Pro to a 9800XT for even more performence..

That little more is close to $100 more in Canada.Well it depends where you shop. I simply refuse to buy over the net(It's just a me thing). For the fact that I'm going to give this system to my son when's he's a liitle older, I think the XT is more in my price range and will do the job for my son.

Now as for me....[}:)]

The 9600XT is a good card and you will be happy with it, especially for the price. Too bad you can't get a hold of a 9500 Pro, that card still rocks and is in my son's system. I have a non-pro 9800 and that's good too. See if you can get a good price on a 9800np because you have double the Bandwidth since you have 8 instead of 4 pipes like on the 9600. (not the 9800SE that has only 4 pipes also be careful and make sure you get the 256bit memory path too) I think you can get a 9800np 256bit card for the same price as the 9600XT.

Thanks Arch, I'm 90% sure this is the card I want. My games should look alot sweeter compared to the ageing MX400.
