Hey all, it's beena while since I posted anything useful here, but here is something that can help many of you.

For those that use CD-ex 1.51 or any other program , here is how to setup the updated Remote feeb.

CDex setup: Make sure that you use a valid email.
The path should be: /~cddb/cddb.cgi

For other CD to MP3 convertors go here for more info

https://gnudb.org/howto.php

This has solved a lot of issues for me, now you can convert all my CD's to 320kbps MP3 or any other format you desire without losing the quality of your CD's from over use.

Hereby I hope this helps some of you here, also shared this at x-3dfx & Voodooalert.

Rock on & stay safe.

Hey all :)

it's been a while I did a topic here, well a decent one regarding 3dfx graphics card s I own personally.
This one was very personal; it's my old 3dfx Voodoo5 5500 PCI Macintosh 64MB Rev.A1 2900 which has PC Bios 1.18_DVI, I flashed my card with gdonovan's help back in October of 2005 I believe it was.

As for the card it has been like almost everywhere From China to me in the Netherlands to Adelaide, South Australia fora Polymer Recap and to Near Hanover in Germany for VRAM replacements and other kinds of needs.

it has been a hell of a ride but this card again has come on top of all it's craziness and well here some pics of the card from where I bought it to what it is now, just to take you guys through this long ass trip :D

Here all the reworks done to the card:

Backfire's Repairs & Reworks:
01. Renewed Ceramic SMD's on the rear
02. 6ns Hynix VRAM renewal for the main VSA-100 Graphics Chip
03. Renewed Heatsinks & Fans for the VSA's topside
04. Renewed Power Supply Controller Chips
05. Fixed the IC U510 Chip's pins
06. Replaced 4x TSOP-86
07. 6ns Hynix VRAM renewal for the slave VSA-100 Graphics Chip

SWZSSR's friend's Recap & Modifications:
01. Full Polymer Recap
02. Burnt Copper Heatsinks for the VSA's rear side

Which is quite the bucket list, right! [8D]

Here the card  taken in 2005, original capacitors  6ns Toshiba SDRAM & crappy AAVid fans rofl [:o)]
Even the main VSA's fan is tilted xD

Here the card after the Polymer recap and with the copper heatsinks applied by a friend from SWZSSR, this happened in Adelaide, South Australia in 2021, the card still has the same crappy AAvid fans:

Here the card with the VRAM of the main VSA-100 renewed by Backfire and some SMD's also renewed etc
New Industrial fans were also applied and 3dfx decals as well by Backfire, this happened July 08 of 2021

And here the card as it is now with the VRAM of the slave VSA-100 renewed, basically it's a new card now , only it's VSA-100's have never been replaced, they been on it since week 29, year 2000, which is over 21 years!

Hey all! [8D]

Hmm where to start since a lot has happened in the past 3 years... Let's see.

Well okay, as some know I did sell my remaining 3dfx cards to a friend named SWZSSR that lives in Adelaide, South Australia, as I was kind of fed up of how somethings went within the 3dfx community way back then, He told me I could always buy back my parts if I ever wanted to for the same values, then again part of me told me to never to sell these cards this, but hey eventually it did happen right rofl.

And the past three years has been a true struggle for me to get back my favorite card; The PC flashed 3dfx Voodoo5 5500 PCI Macintosh 64MB Rev.A1 2900 withs PC Bios 1.18_DVI.
Being 100% disabled didn't make it an easy ride either and then Covid-19 came along as well, all the lock downs.. yea that ate almost 2 years.
All in all it was a very long haul struggle on my end, I just never gave up my hopes for this card and here we are now, it did work out well in the end, it's all worth it.

And I know it's not a Voodoo5 6000, it doesn't even need to be, this very card has a lot of sentimental value to me, so it was my ultimate goal to get it back one way or the other, it was one of my last cards of my first 3dfx collection that I had from 2001 to 2005.
This is also probably the best 3dfx V5 ever made, well production wise of course! All thanks to it's universal PCI 2.3 connector and it's DVI-D which ideal if you want to use a flat panel plus it not only supports the 33Mhz PCI bus but 66Mhz as well, lifespan wise it's better off and you aren't forced to use an expensive Kiroutu Shikou AGP2PCI Card for example.

Anyhow I did manage to get my card recapped with a Polymer recap done by a friend of SWZSSR and got the card back after that, I paid 350 Eur for the card including the Polymer Recap which isn't bad for 2021 I thought, that I was very thankful for too [8D]

So here the card before the recap top & rear side:

Hig-Res before recap:

https://abload.de/img/v5pcimacoldb14kvk.jpg

Here after the recap:

High-Res After recap:
https://abload.de/img/3dfxvoodoo55500pcimacngjsv.jpg
https://abload.de/img/3dfxvoodoo55500pcimacvzjfl.jpg

When the card arrived about 4 days after testing VRAM issues started to occur.. but I wasn't sure of it, the card is 21 years old all understandable if that was the case, which was to me irrelevant to some aspects.
Here is why --> PC parts new or old can show flaws and defects, hardware age is therefor not of relevance in this case.

But still if decent tests were performed by the friend of SWZSSR, he would of detected them as well, so yea I ind of thought strange of this, no matter every problem has a solution, this didn't stop me.

After making a topic of this matter at Voodooalert.de, my best friend from that site that goes by the username "Backfire", he wanted to assist and fix my card, you can view that topic here:
https://www.voodooalert.de/board/forum/index.php?thread/25024-strange-vertical-lines-with-my-v5-pci-mac-during-bootup/

After I showed him what was going on, he saw immediately what caused the issues.

He told me that the VRAM was defective for the main VSA-100, which is the one on the left closest to the D-Sub & DVI-D ports.

Here the photo I showed him, this photo determined the defect with the card's VRAM of the main VSA.

High-Res:
https://abload.de/img/v5pcimacissueclku9.jpg

After that Backfire removed the burnt copper placed heatsinks he accidentally damaged some of the card's capacitors & SMD's, these were easily fixed though, no one is perfect,  so gladly this was not much of an issue:

Hey all

Now I know the message is the same, but it words it at it's best.

As co-owner of the x-3dfx facebook section I have decided with my crew to mass report this so the more reports ebay gets the sooner it will be taken down.

Here the Fraudulent Voodoo5 6000 listing:
https://www.ebay.de/itm/3dfx-Voodoo-6000-tested-working/362751530027

Seller info:
https://www.ebay.de/usr/sewil6573?_trksid=p2047675.l2559

Even that they have 16 Feedback points, could be friends of them or alt accounts made by the same seller
https://feedback.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback2&userid=sewil6573&ftab=AllFeedback&myworld=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2545226.m2531.l4585

If I am not aloud to post this here, feel free to let me know and I will remove it.

Hereby I will advise Surrimugge to also report this seller for stealing their photo material of their own card, there is a way to contact ebay manually which is the way I'd go for I'd phone them and get this sorted out as soon as possible.

Stealing & using photo's from others for sales is breaking rules with ebay even as other market place sites goes using fake photo's or stolen photo's is always a big no no, so you can report the seller from doing this.

At x-3dfx we have already mass reported this sale but the more people report the better and the sooner ebay will have it removed as well.

So please help warn your own 3dfx communities for those that are part of other ones so no one needs to fall for this fraudulent sale thereby helping to protect your own members.

Keep your members safe 3dfzone.it especially from such fraudulent listings, DO NOT fall for it!

General Kenobi out.

28 February 2019, 22:59:36
Hey all :)

If any of you are seeking a cool Overload League there is the Overload Teams League aka OTL for short :)
Check 'em out here:

http://otl.gg/

The OTL was founded by my friend roncli [:o)]
This league will give it's players a very competitive gameplay within the game Overload, in forms of competitions to tourneys and just fun games alike

You can join the OTL here view their discord:
http://otl.gg/discord

At the OTL we are always looking for new players, players can also make their own squadrons just as long they consist of 2 or more players.
This gives the player more freedom as well.

Overload is made by Revival Productions, which is based of the same developers that made the original Descent & Freespace series as Parallax Software & Volition Software.

Hereby I hope to see many more new members and I hope it's okay for me to make this thread here.

Hello everyone :)

Here is a new dinosaur survival game a good friend of mine is making he goes by the name of "Matthew Weiss" and his Team :D [8D]

It already has better core gameplay than the isle: like swimming/diving, flying, weather, you can play as marine reptiles too like as Mosa to lunge into a poor dinosaur on the shore and drag it down to drown it :D :D

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1596433999/beasts-of-bermuda

Here their Discord page:
https://discord.gg/GPFyJG5

The $70 tier gains Early Access to the game that will allow you to play it and test it as patches are made make proper bug reports etc.
Being part of this game's development can be a great deal for some as for me it certainly would.

Beasts of Bermuda is to me and many others the ultimate replacement of The Isle thanks to it's Aquatic, Air and Land unit support players can also create their own skins  and this all can be taken use of if doing the 70USD pledge.

So lets help the Devs of this game gain some publicity and help them succeed their mission goals for making it through their KS Campaign and gain the dino survival game of everyone's dreams.

Their Goal is 35.000 USD and I have a feeling they can pull that off quite well [:+]

Here a god interview of Matthew Weiss and You Tuber; Anthomnia :D
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bp7aD_jt9Tc&t=220s

Also the price is only high because of the KS Campaign the final retail product will be sold at 20USD same as it's competitors.
The reason I added this, is to avoid confusion [8D]

Hey all! :D

As one of the Alpha Backers of Descent Underground from Descendent Studio's;
Hereby I make an announcement to call out some more friends & people to join me with this game, it's a 6DoF FPS game that requires Team Cooperation and Team Support to succeed as it's Survival, Team Anarchy & Cooperate War game modes go, they are to me the best game modes, but there are also many other modes as well. :)

Descent Underground has a Free Demo that includes all game modes and maps with one of the many flyable drones, which is the Wasp, these can deploy turrets to support team mates when capturing zones for example when playing Survival mode.

Do keep in mind this game is an Early Access game and the Descendent Studo's Developers are doing their utmost best to keep this game up to date, you can view Wingman's Hanger on You-Tube every Friday at 6PM GMT +1 but sometimes also on Twitch which will hold live Streams.

Here the Descendent Studio's Main page:
https://descendentstudios.com/

Here their main forum page:
https://descendentstudios.com/community/

Here the Descent Underground Store page on Steam:
http://store.steampowered.com/app/360950/Descent_Underground/

This game runs on Microsoft Windows 7+ Linux & Apple OS but Operating Systems do need to be 64Bit and not 32Bit.
VR is supported, although not required

So hereby I hope to see you all Underground [8D]

Hello all :)

It has been a long time that I have posted something new here and yes I have been out of it since 2011 I think, ah well, I did manage to reobtain my old 3dfx Voodoo5 5500/6000 system, and here is how I got it, renovated it cleaned and rebuilt it, first with the ASUS A7V333-R Rev 1.02 and later on I bought an EPoX EP-8K3A+ Rev 1.2  from daywhite_01 from Vooodooalert.de he even renovated the 8K3A+ with new capacitors so hay I am back ya know, and I have to admit I missed all of you here, I hope all is going well.

Here a new rebuild and cleanup I did the entire day to 3AM in the morning xD
It's that AthlonXP 2700+ I used to use during my 3dfx days and it's also this system I ran the Legendary Voodoo5 5000 AGP's PCI and 6000 AGP in as well.
The 6000 AGP was used in an other mainboard though, the EPoX EP-8K3A+ that was, I still seek one of these, so if anyone can help me, please send me a PM :)

This system was used by my uncle Herman, since he had a stroke not so long ago, he could not use the computer anymore and he wanted me to have it back
So I took this wonderful opportunity and thereby planned to make it reborn as my die hard 3dfx Voodoo5 gaming PC :)

But now this system is back in it's full self again, fully restored and renovated all the parts are like new as well, the operating system of choice is the obvious one I always loved using:
Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional UK + Service Pack 4, this OS is super stable with this setup as with the 8K3A+ as well, it does what I need it to do, and that makes it complete  8)

So here the pics I Made as I went along with this fun project :)

Sveta-2002 before Treatment it looked utterly gross and needed an urgent vital cleanup, ewww [:0]

So here I also cleaned this GeForce 6800 AGP 128MB DDR for my VGA card collection, it just looks cool and it too needed a good cleanup :)

Hai all :)

Here a new Descent game and yes it is happening finally!!

All behold the 4th Descent installment!!! Descent Underground!!!!! This is a Prequel to Descent First Strike! which was released on December 17, 1994.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1P0fXVnXw0E

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/descendentstudios/descent-underground

http://descendentstudios.com/community/blog/8/entry-54-drone-bay-sneak-peek/

Here are the livestreams that WingMan and his team did to talk more about the game and the focus of development.
http://www.twitch.tv/descendentstudios/profile/past_broadcasts

This is THE moment we all have been waiting for  even I myself find it hard to even believe it is finally happening, feel free to support this fabulous project  8)

Here their main page:
http://descendentstudios.com/

Here their forum:
http://descendentstudios.com/community/

Over there  I go as Obi-Wan Kenobi at the forums and I am just helping them get some publicity, they are using Unreal Engine 4.0 and the game will be fully SMP Friendly and have full 64 Bit Support.

Also I made my intro with my Descent/Freespace collection which is the largest of it's kind in the world:

http://descendentstudios.com/community/topic/888-hello-there-here-a-descent-collectors-intro-8/

Since I still enjoy playing Descent 1 & 2 and sometimes 3 as well I thought I'd pass this along here, so you new gen gamers can also try out this new game when its ready for Early Access :)

The game is a 6DoF meaning Six Degrees of Freedom so it will be like flying a Harrier Jump Jet in many ways, DU will have Single player & full Multiplayer support over ISP and LAN,

But yer feel free to check it out it's pretty good looking and the gameplay will make this a hit I am thinking, we needed a new Descent badly and I am sure that this will surly give the Descent fans what they all have been waiting for, catch ya around my DBB Buddies  :E

And here a link showing the so far planned roadmap

http://descendentstudios.com/community/blog/12/entry-47-a-view-from-above-roadmap/

Proving Grounds starts in August 2015 and goes on forever - as people will be testing new weapons and maps before they are approved to go into alpha testing.
Alpha Testing starts in October 2015 - a few good pilots needed to help us balance all the game play.
Backer Beta starts in January 2016 - you backed early, you play early.
Launch (Single Player Prologue and Multi-Player) March 2016 - Wohoo!
Epic Single Player Campaign August 2016

I have backed this project with a 250 USD Pledge, Since this is a new Descent and I love Descent to the core ! <3

We love Descent so lets keep the game we all love alive, thanks to the DU Team we are gonna get a new Descent :)

Hi everyone @ 3dfxzone.it:) It has been a long time that I ever did a 3dfx collection topic here, but I think now it is the time, since something interesting was added [8D]

It's a lot smaller but there is a new addition a Voodoo5 5500 AGP 64MB Rev.A2 3500 Pre-Production Prototype :) it's one of two Rev.A2 3500's known in the oworld, goriath and I are it's only owners. There may eb more of course, but so far none of them have been found. Many thanks go to rottentreats for helping me out :D :D [8D]
He has proven that he has changed and he gave me a very good deal, and everyone knows what I mean here, I wasn't ripped off it was a very good deal, in other words no capitalism was taken place! So this is good news after all for that matter alike [8D]

Its not massive like most out there, I am very selective as card types go and I use them all as well, so collecting factory sealed or boxed ones has no meaning yet, that can change, but for now that has noo interest nor importance.

So here my 3dfx collection for what it is now:

I will make better pics of the Rev.A2 3500 once it arrives and I will compare it with the Rev.A 2500 also  8)

As you can see, the Voodoo5 5500 AGP x4 64MB Rev.A2 3500 is about a full inch orsay 2.5CM shorter than the regular Voodoo5 5500 AGP Rev>A 2500.

Gdonovan a famour 3dfx collector found out why these cards were smaller than their larger counterparts:

"Judging by the date and configuration of the PCB, it suggests that this PCB would have superceded the longer board we know so well. It has an AGP x 4 connector, has a DVI spot on the PCB (perfect for G4 Mac applications) and compared to a normal V5 PCB is shorter and uses less components which saves money so you can offer the card at a lower price."

An other important note:
" Even though these cards have a 4x connector they operate at 3.3 AGP volts & 1/2x AGP mode only.

That was because the SLI function disabled the VSA-100 to function in AGP x4 mode, it was something like this, I will ask around about this though, it would be interesting to find out more of these cards, the Voodoo5 5000 AGP 32MB Rev.A0 3700 which I had twice, also had the AGP x4 connector, but it too only could function @ AGP x2 @ 3.3AGP voltage."

Also this is the reason why AGP x4 never worked:
"Although the card features an AGP4x/8x compatible connector, it works only with 3.3V. That's at least the thing when it comes to other Rev A2 cards of that type. Maybe within week 35 3dfx changed something.
The VSA100 SLI connection internally works only with PCI66, so no, it doesn't work with or benefit of AGP2x/4x. Only AGP1x, which is simply double PCI 33 => PCI 66."

More here:
http://www.thedodgegarage.com/3dfx/pro_v5.htm

gdonovan only has the Rev.A1 3000, there was also a Rev.A2 3300 with and without the DVI-D.
the Rev.A2 3500, the one I have is the latest V5 5500 ever made but also the rarest of the 5500 AGP x4 cards, so far only two are know world wide, there might be more, but it seems that 3dfx only made two batches of these Rev.A2 3500's, back then you had 10 cards per batch, makes it a total of 20 Rev.A2 3500's.

So I wanna be the first to have a PC Flashed 3dfx Voodoo5 5500 PCI Macntosh 256MB :D [:o)] [8D]

This is the Monitor I bought for this retro Duallie [8D] :D
http://britaincloud.co.uk/45720-iiyama-vision-master-pro-452.html

Here a pic of the one I bought:

Pic is from the seller I got it from :)

But yeah Dual P3/S 1400's with a 256 meg PC Flashed V5 PCI Mac in the main PCI-X 64Bit 66Mhz Slot. This is quite the 3dfx dream machine I always wanted to build and hay these days it's all very affordable too :)
Since that getting a Voodoo5 6000 is a bit out of reach these days, I thought about getting the max out of my PC Flashed Voodoo5 5500 PCI Macintosh, by upgrading it with 8x 32MB 166Mhz ISSI SDRAM Chips, so that is 128MB 166Mhz SDRAM per VSA-100, this is possible due to the research done with that Voodoo4 4500 AGP 128MB as the auto Bios support goes for 128MB for VSA-100 and that it does work.

We have learnt that the Napalm Bios automatically adapts and detects the upgraded VRAM buffer of 128MB, so in theory a V5 5500 AGP, PCI/PCI mac should be able to detect the extra dded VRAM per VSA-100. In theory a V5 5500 is nothing but a Dual V4 4500. And Since ISSI makes 32MB SDRAM chips clocked @ 166Mhz this project can be proceeded by Loschwerg, he is the techie to take on such things, I am willing to be the first of such a project and I hope this will help convince other V5 5500 users that such a VRAM upgrade is possible, if it is effective? Well that is where that Iiyama Vision Master Pro 452 comes to place.

It can do 1600 x 1200, which is the ideal Resolution to test the V5 5500 PCI Mac 256MB and see if the Extra VRAM took any impact to the card's overall performance. What I want to prevent is VRAM Loss in games, so it will never run out of VRAM in any resolution beyond 1152 x864 x16/32, so with this VRAM upgrade I think that limitation can be penetrated.

I always wanted to do a new 3dfx project, but I never could find what to do, until this crazy plan came to mind [8D] [:o)]

Howdi Pilots!

Well here is something you oughta have alook at :)
http://steamcommunity.com/groups/DescentRangers

As the Steam group goes all I need is your Steam account name, PM me if you need my nick, then by adding me I can add you to the Steam Descent Rangers! People can only be added if they are a contact of one of the Admins, me as being one thx to 1i [One Eye] after I added him as friend to my list, he made me an Admin, thus that being I can add other Rangers that are willing to be part of the Descent Ranger Steam Community ;)

Here is what can be done if you are willing to join The Descent Rangers :)

Go to the Rangers forum website here:
http://www.descent-rangers.net/forum/index.php

make an account and then post something about yourself in the recruiting area, which is here:
http://www.descent-rangers.net/forum/viewforum.php?f=19

Over there one of members will reply or you get a PM from one of our Squad leaders and he or she will aks you what squad you'd prefer, as you can see I went for Gold Phoenix Squadron, but my sponsor being KoolBear is from the Red Dragon Squadron.

After recruiting you will be asked to join a game with us and install Mamble for communication with your clan mates, yopu will then be PM'ed a password to enter the mamble server we are on and also a squadron password so if you want to talk with squad mates in priivate this is also a possibillity :)

For others that are willing to join the Rangers everyone here @ DXX-Rebirth is welcome!

May The Force Be With You, Always and Keep Your Wings Levelled!
