Title: A QUESTION ABOUT AGP 4X & 8x
Post by: LD on 18 December 2003, 00:46:59
Simply put are 4x cards fully compatable with 8x agp motherboards? and vice versa an 8x card in a 4x slot etc ?

To be more specific would an abit geforce ti4200 OTES 4x work well
in an asus pentium 4 8x board like the p4s800 or the p4sdx ?

Thanks in advance you guys rock!.

                            Sincerely LD,

Série P4S800 (SiS 648FX) 1 x AGP8X (1.5V only)
Série P4SDX (Sis 655) 1 x AGP8X (1.5V only)

Generally speaking, you can install an AGP 8X card on an mobo AGP 4X but the card will only run in AGP 4X mode
and you can also install an AGP 4X card on a mobo AGP 8X since AGP 8X is backward compatible

But since a GForce will be never a Voodoo4/5, the next time post in the right section...thks
