Post by: voodoo3user999 on 30 November 2008, 15:01:47
Hi all, im trying to get the Ut3 demo running on a voodoo 4. i first installd it on my main comp and saw that the setting culd be lowerd all the way down to 320*200 and thaut hmm.... that shuld be low enuff to fit in the ram of a voodoo4. so here is the deal the comp my V4 4500 is in have just above 512 of ram a 2,4ghz@ 1.77 <--- the mobo max. and its running xpsp2. can you all voodoo4 or 5 users try getting this game to work. remember the first Unreal games where writen for glide. so lets hope the ut3 team had us in mind.

voodoo3user999, they had us in mind when they made UT2003/4, when they specificaly made the game able to run on a Voodoo3 [:p]

agrelaphon , i know that i even got UT2004 running in opengl mode on a Voodoo2 looking better then Ut2004 in directx mode on a V3 (exept for menus, who got texture errors) .annyway the only thing i mean is the setting in UT3 can be set so low that thay whuld run decently on a v3 v4 or v5 setup . if we just can get the game running.

Hi, I have Unreal 3 installed and I can say that it'll NEVER run on a voodoo card, especially on a voodoo4 4500.
I have a voodoo4 too. Never tryed to run Unreal 3 with her but, I can say that it'll never happen. The game requires at least a geforce 6 card. So, when it is said, you must understand that it may need some technologies like Pixel Shader 3.0, Transform and Lightning and a lot of other things that voodoo never managed to be capable of.
I use a 8600GT card and it runs on Maximum detail, and, even on low detail, the game have a very good graphic, and still need the SHaders 3.0 to run. So, Sorry to say that, but your only hope to play this game is to upgrade your video-card.

ps: This game should never be refered to the 2003 or 2004 editions of Unreal. It's a completely new engine and one of the most beautiful that I'd ever seen.

Well boath Pixelshaders and T&L can be emulated using software like 3d analyzer. and the game engien is still based on the UT2004 engien witch is quite tweakable. I know the card are old i have 2 of the V5 5500 as well(i know they are old to) .. the thin is i have a new comp to i can run UT3 on 2048*1536 on my good comp, so i do not need to uppgrade my card, im only trying to get it running att all on the V4 or V5. and at 320*240@low settings the game will fitt in 32mb Vram.

As I said.
The Unreal 3 engine completely new. There's nothing to do with the UT2004 engine. And 3D-analyzer can only emulate pixel shader 2.0, and UT3 requires 3.0 at least. So, I'm certain that a voodoo card could not run this game even on 640x480 and low settings. I'm not telling that considering that Voodoo are not able to handle the task, but there's no p.s. 3.0 emulator yet.
Best regards!
